A murder/suicide pact between two high school students is laid out in the shocking feature film HEART OF AMERICA. On the last day of school, the duo load up on weapons, and arrive at the school to carry out their grim revenge against the students and administration that has made their lives hell. HEART OF AMERICA mirrors Gus Van Sant's ELEPHANT in subject matter, but carves out a stylistic niche of its own as the action plays out in real time.

Quality film based on a very real problem

Graham from UK, 13th February, 2006

Heart of America is based on true events all will have seen in the news in USA whereby Children undergo such bullying that they are led to take the most drastic form of retaliation. The movie is highly credible, captivating and provokes a host of emotions as you witness the events leading up to the tragic shooting of several students and a teacher. You will witness severe bullying boarding on evil during the build up to shooting and you will find that this film will quickly become a topic of conversation in your household. Not recommended for those easily offended as some of the content is cruel but nothing is portrayed too distastefully and the film gripped us throughout. Highly recommended. 4 Stars.

Worth watching

Mikey4 from London, 13th June, 2006

I'm not a fan of Uwe Boll's movies but this proved to be a rare gem from an awful director.

For a start, the characters are mostly believable, which is rarely true of Boll's movies. Secondly, the movie holds together and although Boll resorts to his regular trick of popping in flashbacks occasionally, it works well in this venture and allows the audience a chance to develop their emotional link to the main characters, which many films struggle to do.

Lastly there's the way in which the bullying in the movie is treated; yes it's horrific (I'm thinking speficially of the football field scene towards the end) but where other directors might have taken the opportunity to show 'gritty realism' with harshly acted scenes, Boll has (for possibly the first time in his career to-date) restrained himself and simply used language and gesture with appropriate cut-away shots to represent something infinitely less pleasant.

While I agree that this movie may hit a little too close to home if you've been the victim of bullying, or if you've suffered a loss in the manner represented in this movie, it's still a movie which deserves to be seen.

Light entertainment for a couple of hours? Not really

Masterpiece? No, far from it

Should you watch it? Yeah

EXCELLENT IF YOU LIKE THAT SORT OF THING

RAVERMAN777 from WARWICKSHIRE, 13th March, 2006

I am not sure I am glad I watched this, although if you want a really emotional film about bullying taken to the extreme then you won't get better than this.

Not for the faint hearted though.

I wouldn't watch this if

A) bullyed at school
B) would find this kind of thing offensive.

I wish I hadn't watched it to be honest.

This is actually a very gripping movie. I have seen all of this directors films and only because they are absolutley useless and make me laugh, but this is nice. Worth a watch.
