"Johnny Vegas - 18 Stone of Idiot" is a six-part entertainment show which invites viewers into the bizarre but comical world of Johnny Vegas. It's a studio show full of games, celebrity guests, stand-up comedy and VT strands. Each week in 'TV Democracy' Johnny turns the viewers' wildest fantasies into televisual reality ("get Neil Hamilton to dance for fish" is a typical example) and in 'My Favourite Things' we find out what really turns him on - from pottery to Star Wars conventions. Every show ends with Johnny attempting to pull off a nail-biting stunt with the help of his celebrity guest.

18 Stone Of Fun

ALRIIIIIIIGHT!! I enjoyed the series 18 Stone of Idiot but it was on at a difficult time for me to be truly paying attention, at 10.30 on a Friday night is when the weight of the week is starting to finally catch up with me; So the release of this DVD lets me catch up with all the stuff that I missed/fell asleep through. I appreciate that people who don't like Johnny Vegas will not be swayed in the slightest by this release but if you like his stand up & his TV interviews you are going to LOVE this. The DVD is a 2 Hour long 'Best Of' from the series which cuts out the Misses and keeps the funniest parts. The extra's are very good too with an extended version of his trip to the Sky poker competition & My favourite the celebrity Lock-In shown in its entirety. This DVD ran me through a set of different emotions, It made me laugh, feel sick, it shocked & disgusted me at some points, but all in the name of entertainment, thoroughly enjoyable... If this DVD was a member of the Power Rangers It would probably be The Yellow one/Sabre Toothed Tiger.

Very poor and bordering on offensive

A Customer from UK, 28th June, 2006

I have always found Johnny Vegas very amusing in the past, but this DVD sinks to new depths - it is in very poor taste, taking advantage of a man who is clearly deeply disturbed, and is predominantly cringeworthy and downright offensive. I have removed his other DVDs from my selection :-(

18 Stone Of Idiot

So this is the best bits from his channel 4 show?, a truly dreadful DVD. You need to be an idiot to watch this, insult your audience and guests swear a lot, repeat for six shows, release a DVD, job done. Worse thing I have ever watched, never got any better, don't bother total waste of time.

painful & sad

A Customer from New Milton, 20th November, 2007

I like Johnny Vegas a lot. I have seen some of his stand-up appearances and he is a very talented comedian. He is also excellent in 'Ideal' and, in 'Bleak House' he demonstrated that he is a very good actor too. I watched the first few episodes of '18 Stone of Idiot' when it was on the TV and I just found it painful and distressing. I'm not an expert but I genuinely think Johnny was undergoing some sort of breakdown during this series. His behaviour, in my view, displayed such a degree of self-loathing and sadness that I'm surprised someone didn't intervene. This sorry spectacle was made all the worse by the fact he seemed to delight in behaving in this way in front of an audience (seemingly to make the degradation and humiliation all the more complete). If Johnny heads down this road again I only hope he has friends and family who care enough about him to intervene.

a comic 'genius' when sober

A Customer from London, 24th March, 2007

Vegas is natually a funny man, described recently by Dustin Hoffman as a 'poet'. However, without a polished act, stretched over a show he resorts to exploiting himself which comes over as pitiful and awkward at times. A few clips were very funny but many were just pointless. Drunken ranting is just not funny beyond a point. Nonetheless good voyeuristic value for some.
