simply beautiful

as with all studio ghibli productions, this film is simply beautiful. an enchanting tale for all ages of a girl who discovers that there's more to cats than most people think, not only can some of them talk, but they have their own land, king and political strife.

Not a review, but

This isn't a review, but for anyone watching this, they should know that the real translation of this title should be 'The Gratitude of the Cat', but it looks like it was badly translated to be Return. Once you know that, the title actually makes sense.

Oh dear... a well crafted film for people on weed

A good laugh but goes on too long. Typical cliches of anime films and didn't meet up to the same expectations of Howl's Moving Castle. Boo! Also the director was on way to many drugs when he made the cats started having a stand-up parade and when the fat kitty gets stuck in a punch bowl. A crazy film, that made me and my mum laugh.
A Good Film, But an Average Ghibli
LittleBread from , 24th January, 2010
It seems strange to say this given the film's plot, but The Cat Returns (when compared to Miyazaki's other works) feels far too... normal! Now don't get me wrong, the film isn't bad in the slightest. Wonderful art direction, a stellar voice cast and some well thought out characters. However, it's missing that crucial Ghibli magic.. a certain je ne sais quoi which coarses through most of their films. As I said in the title, The Cat Returns is a good film, but it feels like a lazy effort from the creator of Spirited Away!

Great film, babe

This is such a cute, funny film! Unlucky schoolgirl Haru finds her life takes a bit of a turn for the unexpected after she saves a cat from being hit by a truck. The catch? That cat was the prince of the Cat Kingdom, and now the King wants her to marry the prince! There's a lot of humour in this film, from the King just being the King (That's me, babe) to the banter between Muta and Toto. The characters are great as always from Studio Ghibli (Especially the Baron! Sexiest. Cat. Ever.) and it's an enchanting tale. I showed it to some friends who aren't even that interested in anime and they loved it too. Brilliant film.

This was just so awful. I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to rent it. I should have re-watched Watershipdown instead........

I truly loved this film, like many others I have never been a huge fan of Japanese animation, (I really love cats) and I thought this film was fantastic. If you liked Spirited Away, you will love this film.
