Asian Cops and Robbers

A Customer from Westcliff, England, 7th December, 2004

Cops from the generation X era - you may be thinking this all sounds familiar, Point Break anyone? However this is quite different altogether. Asian films are never what they seem. Three unlikely police cadets, on the verge on repulsion, are given another chance. Under the tutorage of a senior officer, who has to crack the next case to save his career, the trio have to infiltrate the criminal world.

The film is action packed from the start with a mix of martial arts, dangerous stunts all at an explosive pace.

Give it a go for an enjoyable action cop adventure from our Asian cousins.

Good film

I think this is above average and definitely worth watching. This is no Infernal Affiars but it is good fun.

2nd Opinion

Ian Davies from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, 6th October, 2005

I watched this again after a bit of thought. Part of the new breed of Hong Kong action, this lacks the star power of the films of the seventies and eighties. Watchable, but even after a second look, not that memorable. Eric Tsang does put in a good performance though. Jackie Chan's brief cameo is almost a complete waste of time.

painful

thecal from from Manchester, 21st January, 2008

just awful, the action is few and far between, the characters are boring and it is just plain awful. Even a cameo by a martial arts LEGEND was wasted....but at least that brought a smile to my face

X marks the spot.

adiw from Leicestershire, 24th May, 2005

Jackie Chan had his hands all over this one, he even finds time to make a cameo appearence at the end of the movie. Gen X Cops is an enjoyable Hong Kong actioner which impresses with its mix of martial arts, car chases and loud explosions. You know, like action movies tend to do from time to time. The plot is a little far fetched, nothing more than an excuse to gather some of Asia's hottest young stars in the same movie, but Nicholas Tse, Stephen Fung and Sam Lee are all incredibly watchable and the movie entertains in all the ways that a shallow Hong Kong actioner really should. The bloodier, darker moments raise the film above the average.

It's all been done before of course, all been done a lot better too, but there is always room for throwaway fluff like this. Popcorn power at its most enjoyable.

Just be sure you avoid the sequel.
