RENT IT!

A Customer from Essex, 15th December, 2006

I'll recomend this to anyone, assuming they have an attention span longer than that of the typical Eastenders viewer. Alan Bates and all the other major actors could not be any better. It bares the typical BBC drama hallmarks, poor lighting, bad sound and of course the extra with no acting talent is given a small speaking part. But it's a great watch and a fantastic story. On another note those fools in blue shirts (Tesco people) sent me the same disk twice!

Alan Bates is perefctly cast and the pace and style of the whole thing matches him beautifully. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys literary adaptations or even just good tales well told.

I watched this when it was first on the television and thoroughly enjoyed watching it again recently. It never dates. The acting is superb. Definitely a 'must see' DVD.

Trying to remmeber auathor's name (it's alzheimer's) not the author stupid! Beautiful story - perhaps a little slow - wonderful male lead and the rest of the cast.- well staged locations - looked like real Dorset (they probably were) Easy viewing.
