The continuing story of George Adamson and his battle to save wildlife in Kenya. This time George and Tony, a down-and-out from London, try to put a stop to illegal trading for rhino horn and ivory...

Rating of 4 stars out of 5
Radio Times

Grittier and less sentimental than the original, this fine follow-up to Born Free stars Richard Harris as an ageing George Adamson, long separated from wife Joy, but still enjoying life with the lions despite the predations of poachers and the grudging tolerance of the Kenyan government. The story is seen through the eyes of an English backpacker (John Michie), who chronicles Adamson's life up to his brutal killing by poachers in 1989. The leonine-looking Harris delivers a towering lead performance — like good wine, he matures with age — and there's solid support from Kerry Fox, Honor Blackman, Ian Bannen and Geraldine Chaplin.

Not boring at all..

A Customer from Skipton, North Yorkshire, 17th March, 2007

How can this film be boring? A remarkable film based on true accounts. If you have a passion for wildlife and the welfare of them then, George Adamson was truly a sensitive individual who devoted his life to ease the suffering and abuse of these wonderful lions. I love Kenya and I am going back this June and if we can all take time out to think about our fellow humans greed and to contemplate about the work this man did.. and to give a little back

Not for children

A Customer from Bicester, England, 23rd May, 2006

I made the mistake of thinking this was going to be like Born Free and good family viewing. Do not be fooled. There were 2 very traumatic scenes involving the slaughter of elephants and the murder of George himself. Both my daughter and myself were very upset. Having said that I thought it was a good film but wasn't as I expected - no cute fluffy lion cubs in this one!
