What was Ricci thinking??

Guy Johnson from Norwich, 14th May, 2005

I had the misfortune of watching this film a few days ago at the cinema and only stayed til the end to see just how much worse it could get. The usually excellent Ricci cant even save this stinker. The plot which has been borrowed from every werewolf film ever made is terrible and I wont even go into the CGI (scooby-doo was much better, seriously!!) A very bad film, I understand the film is supposed to be part comedy but I reckon the whole thing is a complete joke! Avoid

Exits with a woof not a wimper!!

Maynard from , 22nd April, 2005

A typical Wes Craven 'B' type horror movie. The story is of a brother (Jesse Eisenberg) and sister (Christina Ricci looking very ex Addams Family and extremely gothic at times) being infected by a werewolf and searching for the one who infected them to end the curse and set them free. It doesn't take too much brain power to work out who the werewolf is early on, but no clues!!!! Incidentally, there is a great performance from Judy Greer as the hyper PR woman.

All in all, not bad even if a great deal of the film ended up on the cutting room floor to enable a lower certificate. Let's hope than when the film is released on DVD there is a Directors cut with it all back again. One piece of advice - don't take the dog out for its nightly walk after watching this film!!!! Good fun.

OH MY GOD!!!

A Customer from Stoke-on-Trent, Engalnd, 30th August, 2005

Oh My god!! This is possibly one of the worse films I have ever seen, the plot was terrible, I've seen better plots in adverts - seriously, the CGI was so completely bad I was hoping it was a joke. The plot was so limited I guessed the ending about 20 minutes in - terrible, terrible TERRIBLE, an hour and half of my life wasted

Something dodgy about the

skeadugenga from , 14th October, 2005

So many bad one star reviews and yet the film is still showing an average of 3 stars? This film was so bad that it wasn't even funny. I picked it because Christina Ricci almost always guarantees an interesting film - this was the exception that proves the rule I'm afraid. Dull, poorly acted and not scary so much as ridiculous.

Wrong genre?

Scuttlebutt from , 16th October, 2009

I'm not a big fan of horror films in general, but looked this up after hearing Joshua Jackson was in it... and I actually quite enjoyed it. Granted it will probably horrify (sorry) true fans of the genre for all the wrong reasons - my mother actually thought I was watching a comedy I was laughing so much - but if you overlook the fact it's supposed to be a horror film it's actually a rather good movie. The dog is an interesting twist but my favorite moment has to be Christina Ricci insulting the werewolf... definitely laughter inducing!

Fun but a little disappointing for Wes.

tootieluvsheroes from , 18th June, 2009

Cursed is a fun film and certainly has some hilarious moments wether intentional or not. Not a scary picture so if you're looking for horror and gore this isn't the movie you want, although there are a few moments that make you jump. To tame for my taste, I would've loved more gore and violence. The story could easily have been expanded and more could have been told about the werewolf which would have made the movie more interesting and other storylines, such as the gay guy pretending to be a straight stereotypical jock, could have been completely removed (though i love seeing the gorgeous Milo Ventimiglia on screen no matter how pointlessly).Overall a fun dvd, perfect cure for boredom or a slumber party but i expected more from Wes Craven. 3 & half stars!

Fun, probably for genre addicts only

jennibee from , 3rd June, 2009

If you loved the mid nineties rush of teeny bop horrors such as Scream, I Know What You Did etc then give this a go as it will deliver everything you should expect from the desciption- pretty young amercians running around for some reasonably predicatble but still jumpy scares with some fairly good effects and punchy dialogue. It's not terrifying, it aint winning any awards for originality either but it's completely watchable and I'll stick my neck out to say one of Josh Jackson's better big screen performances.
