Home to roost.

adiw from Leicestershire, 7th August, 2005

A familiar theme this. The French take on Assault on Precinct 13, directed by the helmer of Hostage and starring Sammy Naceri of 'Taxi' fame. That would be the original French version of course, the less said about the American version the better.
Very few pictures follow the all out action route these days but The Nest has it by the truck load... big guns, big explosions, you get the idea.
The opening act sets the scene slowly but it isn't long before the first of many blistering shoot outs come your way.
The cast all do a fine job though it has to be said that with so many characters, very few of them are given the opportunity to shine. Character development certainly wasn't top of the list with this production. Thankfully though it is directed with style to spare and incredibly watchable from beginning to end as the script throws in a few curve balls along the way. And the odd grenade just be sure.
It wont change your life but there's plenty of bang for your, er, pound.

French action movie at its best

Nicola from Sleaford lincolnshire, 7th January, 2006

Lets not mess about here, florent emilio siris,The Nest,is as good as an action movie gets, like all french movies, they have a certain grittiness to them, and seem more grounded than a hollywood movie,it starts of like a heist robbery movie, and descends into assault on precinct 13 territory, only not the poor remake the much more classic carpenter original. superb stunts, excellent action and great stylish direction, with great characters, rent this now!

A French Assault on Precinct 13

DJM666 from , 3rd January, 2006

The Nest is a great action movie, which takes alot from Assault on Precinct 13, but still manages to be better than most action films coming out of Hollywood. The movie has a great premise, believable characters, and good acting by all of the main cast. It is not a dialog-heavy movie, but is still easy to follow and understand, with a good build-up in the first 30-minutes of the film, of the main characters to be used in the rest of the movie. It also has great action scenes (violent, bloody, exciting), and some good special effects. Similar in part to films like Assault on Precinct 13, SWAT, Transporter, Die Hard, and even Night of the Living Dead. The DVD extras seem at first glance to be limited, but they include 6-minutes of deleted scenes (with comments by the director), a very interesting and in-depth 52-minute Making of Featurette, and the theatrical trailer.

Fast paced with a reasonably believable plot. Loved this film from start to end. Recommended.

Assault on The Nest

A Customer from Glasgow, 5th December, 2008

Literally hordes (hundreds) of suicidal faceless goons face off against a group of cops and robbers in an attempt to free an Albanian mafia head being transported to trial, but ending up in a large warehouse in the middle of an industrial estate after the initial rescue attempt goes awry. Very similar to Carpenter's original Assault on Precinct 13 - and even more so than the official Hollywood remake. If you loved that film (and I do) you'll absolutely love this one as well. Recommend without hesitation.

Good Film

A Customer from Bromsgrove, England, 10th June, 2007

A really good action film, pity about the language, being mainly French with subtitles.
