Sell-by-date coming up

Amateur from The Chilterns, 14th October, 2005

I used to love the Golden Girls when they first appeared on our screens in the Eighties. It was funny, witty, entertaining and I even liked their clothes!!!!! Well, it's almost 20 years later - a lot can change in that time and I am actually quite sad to report that the Golden Girls just don't do it for me anymore. Although Bea Arthur is still very enjoyable to watch and although still there are some brilliant lines, I now just want to shake the 3 of them and tell them to get over themselves. As for the clothes .......

as funny as I remember it

Chris N from Manchester, 17th August, 2005

Having watched The Golden Girls as a child with my Grandma I had fond memories of the series about four older ladies sharing a house in Miami. When I found out it was to be rereleased it was with some trepidation that I awaited its rediscovery.Could it live up to the memories I had of it? After all I was only a child when I saw it first time round. I found myself with a permanent grin on my face the whole way through and with many belly laughs along the way.The characters are fantastic and I found myself once again(as I did as a child)arguing with myself as to which was my favourite character. The simple answer is that they are all amazing! Do yourselves a big favour and watch this series. This truly is comedy at its best.

My children and I use to love watching 'Golden Girls' in the 1980s.My girls were only smal;l then, but they use to love it. We use to settle down on a Friday night and have pizza and drinks. I have just watched it again with my eldest daughter, who is now 28 years old,we enjoyed it now, just as much as we did back in the eighties Golden Girls is easy watching,it is witty and it is nice to watch something that is aimed at woman. Go Golden girls.

Great performances, great one liners, weak scripts....

BrumBoy71 from Birmingham, England, 22nd July, 2005

Remember watching The Golden Girls for years in the 80s, so interesting to see it again. The 4 central performances are great, perfect characterisations, the one-liners (of which their are many) delivered with verve, fine comic timing & the actresses work VERY well together HOWEVER the 'plots' are often thin & the sentiment can be overwhelming. Worth renting for the performances & the memories....

The Best laugh I have had in a long while watching my first DVD from Amazon and first 6 episodes of Golden Girls. I am looking forward to receiving further DVDs in these series and others.

I have never seen the Golden Girls programme in UK. Nor any repeats which is a shame. However the humour is 'Transatlantic'

and the British are so very parochial! I know I am one, but I escaped to work abroad!

I watched this when it was on Channel 4 in the 80's. Just love all the characters. Especially Sofia. She's just the best.
