One for the fans

TheMovieman from from Ramsbottom, 31st March, 2005

There is very little Pete and Dud material surviving thanks to the shameful pracise of the BBC erasing tapes in the 60s. This is a disc full of, if not classic comedy, then at least stuff that has stood the test of time. Some of the sketches do go on a little long.

What a shame...

A Customer from Bristol, England, 29th March, 2005

I am a young(ish -27) fan of Peter Cooke and Dudley Moore and looked forward to sampling this 'new' material. I'm not quite sure how the duo managed to fill so much time with so few jokes. The B&W Pete and Dud sketches are the highlight of this DVD, but even then are no where near as funny as their 'No Only But Also...' sketches. The colour sketches on film are overly long and simply not funny. With, I would say, zero to very few actual jokes. Charming in places, painful in others, but rarely funny. Give it a look, by all means, but don't expect to be laughing out loud.

They've been better

grahamfilms from Bucks, 9th May, 2005

After Pete and Dud every decent bit of comedy (stand-up, sketches or situation) seems derivative. they were the masters. While there are moments of their best, most brilliant (not to say funny) comedy on this DVD, there's also some dross. Why do we need to have a joke explained by someone else just after Pete and Dud have executed it?

The extras aren't worth the space. I'd have selected other bits of 'Goodbye Again' as 'best of' - there are some 'not quite best of' bits here... or maybe I just mean they could've been edited done a little. But certainly good to see them do what they did so well. Now I want more!

The Best of?

Raechel from , 12th December, 2007

Sadly disappointing. Not enough. And not necessarily 'the best of' either. Worth a watch, mind. Always worth a watch. Pointless commentaries from other comedians recounting when they first discovered the joys of Cook and Moore. Might have done better to show more of the actual show.

Excellent stuff from comic genius

Martyn from Dudley, England, 25th July, 2006

I am a bit biased as I am a big fan of Peter Cook who is, in my opinion, one of the countries greatest ever comedians. I defy anyone to watch this and not be in stitches.

Not only but not quite

A Customer from Corby, Northants, 23rd March, 2006

Interesting- but not too much top quality stuff on it. Great for hardcore fans, or indeed fans of any kind of building materials, but none of this would get on a genuine 'best of' collection.
