Funnier than a strange shaped turnip!

davecas from Middx, 21st June, 2004

What can I say about this series? Clearly the best comedy program on TV, and the second series, set in Tudor times, is the best.

Blackadder as a lord in the court of Queen Elisabeth 1st; conniving, scheming and very, very clever.

Cutting off heads, sailing round the cape of good hope and getting married to a servant called Bob! Its all in here, including the best portrayal of any queen in the history of TV. Rent it, laugh your socks off!

A enormous turnip out in the country...

Wendell Askari from in a Galaxy Far Far Away, 28th November, 2004

Curtis got Ben Elton on board for the second series of Black Adder and the mix was just about perfect. Curtis clever stories were given a punchiness by Elton's writing that was sorely missing in the first series, and which mean't the second had far broader appeal. A brilliant series with some of the best comedy of the modern era. Well worth a look if you have been on another planet for the last 20 years and not seen if before.

Health warning....

Oh it should have one! with the amount of laughter due to witty comments. All 4 series of blackadder are without a doubt perfect for a night in and some fun. Wish they did more. I havent seen a bad review yet which shows it is a good title to add to your list.

The love affair between blackadder and Elizabeth is painful but endearing to view.

blackadder series 2

A Customer from glasgow, 17th March, 2010

loved every episode! not as good as the third series but still one of the best British comedies of all time. Although I liked the third series more, this version of Blackadder himself is my favourite. He seems more edgy and acid tongued than other versions and the humour throughout is fantastic. Highlight of the series for me was the brief but unforgettable appearance of Rik Mayell as Lord Flasheart - best line of the series (when Lord Flasheart sees Baldrick in a dress) 'I like the beard, gives me something to hold on to..'

Although my husband loves it I don't really get it. Sorry maybe it is just me but I thought that I add one little less favourable review...

Classic

A Customer from London,, 24th September, 2009

One of the classics of British comedy. Black Adder really became itself in the second series when Ben Elton joined the writing team. It is set in the Elizabethan era, with Miranda Richardson as the wonderful 'Queenie'. The second series was the first to establish the familiar Blackadder character: cunning, shrewd and witty, in sharp contrast to the bumbling Prince Edmund of the first series. Blackadder set its own standards of wit, tongue-in-cheek repartie and is one of the most quoted comedies in Britain. Unmissable.

Black Adder Series 2

Excellent! His scheming and plotting just make you want to watch them all in one go. Marvellous British humour, poor Baldrick.
