Warning: contains references to Judge Reinhold

Barry Skellern from Manchester, 23rd February, 2005

Having seen this series on an import DVD I am eager to own a copy myself. Any fan of the original movie 'Clerks' will find something to tickle their humerus in this animated series. The cartoons kick off following the events of the movie, and much of the humour is in line with what you would expect from such a pedigree. Childish in parts, ascerbic in others, but always entertaining. In animated form, the storylines are allowed to run into some strange territory, including the appearance of Leonardo Leonardo, arch enemy to the clerks and all-round Alan-Rickman-alike dark nemesis character. Then there is the episode in which... well, I won't give it away, but it features Judge Reinhold, a car that can turn into a robot, and an incredible Manga-style animated sequence that will have you reaching for the rewind button as soon as you have recovered from the spasms of laughter. So why not 5 stars? Well, simply in acknowledgement of the fact that this is not going to suit everyone's tastes. If you enjoyed Clerks then you'll probably love this, and if you enjoy a little surrealism in your comedy then it will be right up your street.

Clerks translates well to animation, but the odd joke falls flat

tunnelweb from , 8th August, 2008

Clerks translates well to animation - becoming considerably more 'out there' than the original film (or sequel, for that matter). An excellent satire of animation - both western and eastern - although the odd joke, while well-intentioned and clever, falls flat. A great laugh.
