In the not-too-distant future Down Under, life is not good for the poor. Lack of readies condemns one to a life of near slavery, toiling for nasty giant corporations. Of course, the workers fight back, and lots of action ensues. This is the only film to date directed by actor Hugh Keays-Byrne (occasional character Grunchik in Farscape).

This is the epic tale of an American fighter pilot (Bill Paxton) who is shot down in German occupied Belgium during WWII. He is hidden by the resistence and falls in love the with the beautiful wife(Julia Ormond) of the resistence member who helped hide him from the Germans. The film follows their relationship and it isn't long before they are exposed, forcing them to make some harrowing choices that could have a devastating consequence on the outcome of the war. This film has some amazing moments, music and nice camera work which must be seen. Very worthwhile Viewing Jodie

Pleasant diversion

A Customer from Lancashire, England, 15th November, 2005

Any film that opens with an announcement that it's set in Belgium isn't likely to be the most exciting film ever made, but this is an enjoyable movie for an autumnal afternoon. The pretty photography, and the pleasant lead actors make for an undemanding but warm and involving wartime love story.

Customer Review

This has the potential to be a very good film - but unfortunately lets itself down by falling into a tedious and unbelievable love story - the scene where the American airman hidden by the resistance decides to take 'his girl' for 'lunch' in a nearby French town is simply unbeleievable didnt the writer(s) realise the German army didnt simply inhabit certain French towns!

Do yourself a favour steer well clear of this 88 mins of dreary film making!!!

Brillianr Romance and War

Bridget Crompton from York, England, 12th November, 2006

My husband and I both loved the film. It has emotional romantic appeal mixed with the hatred and jealosy of war and how it affects a Maquis Belgian married woman and an injured, American pilot. Sacrifice, jealousy, love and tears. Well woth it for the Girls and the Guys get some hot sex as well! Worth a Rent.

Found it a little slow and a lot of it was in French with subtitles which made viewing harder. It wasnt that bad once I got into it and developed into a good story of love during the Occupation of Belgium with a tragic end.
