Excellent on all levels

Gripping narrative, expertly done by John Sayles, his finest film to date. Cultural clashes, murder and corruption all meld together beautifully. In the wrong hands could easily have been a mess due to the delicate handling required, probably one of the best films of the 90s.

excellent film with great story about a murder in a sleepy border town that could have be done by the no country for old men coen bros/ for wider box cffice appeal,but having said that, it's a great film that i could have watched for longer,i'd never heard of the film,but 5 mins in and i was hooked, a well spent couple of hours in front of the goggl-box

Superb ensemble piece

A great film, good writing and acting, intelligently played. Chris Cooper is excellent in particular, but everyone stands out. This must have been an actor's dream..why no DVD in the UK though??
