A delightful musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens' classic starring Albert Finney in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, the cold-hearted miser visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve.

i have seen all the different versions of scrooge and this one is by far the best, Very often musicals can be tiresome and the songs tend to get in the way of the film but not in this case. Albert finney is a master of his craft and he plays scrooge magnificently, this is a must see, especially at christmas

Arguably the best Scrooge there is. Albert finney is wonderful as the miser and sings his way through this classic film. A good british cast and worth a watch every year.

A REAL CHRISTMAS CRACKER
executor01 from , 15th November, 2009
This is by far the best version of the Scrooge tale and, except for the Alistair Simm comedy version and the Bill Murray 'Scrooged', is so far ahead of all of the other versions that it is the only one to even bother with. Albert Finney is excellent as Scrooge and the supporting cast all perform excellently. The musical numbers and choreography are superb and, along with the splended(studio bound) scenery, this offers up the perfect version of 'A Christmas Carol' A special mention should go to the three spirits and, especially, Kenneth Moore as the Ghost of Christmas Present. They are all excellent and brilliantly realised. This is on a par with a number of the top musicals and christmas films. A real must see.

Merry Christmas
Donensian from , 5th August, 2008
The Antony Newley/Leslie Bricusse show which became Antony Newley's pension plan as he played it on stage until he dropped off the twig. It translates wonderfully well to the big screen giving it a depths and a spread which the theatre can't provide. Albert Finney is excellent in the title role and Anton Rodgers steps out of his usual style to play a jack-the-lad singing and dancing character. The choreography is superb and the entire cast well drilled. There is a panoply of British actors including Alec Guiness, Edith Evans & Kenneth More. The song 'Thank You Very Much' was nominated for an Oscar. The best straight version of Scrooge is still the one starring Alistair Sim but this is the best musical version.
Enchanting
