Brilliant

It's worth renting this for the first episode alone that stars John Simms (Human Traffic / The Lakes) the story is brilliant, the rest of the episodes are also good, but drift into a standard TV drama, even if you don't like the whole series it's worth renting this for the first episode, I'm not going to say anything about what happens as it will spoil it... :)

Intelligent Drama

Excellent. Well acted, well written, and well directed. The launch pad for some superb actors like Leslie Sharpe, and Philip Glenister (Life on Mars). The intertwined lives of workers in a Textile mill don't sound interesting, but such is the fantastic story telling that you're engrossed from the off. Make sure you watch the entire series. Highlights are the episodes with Christopher Eccelston, and when Trudie gets a boob job!

If you like great acting, truly believable characters, terrific plots, then this is for you!!.If you missed this when it aired, then I urge you to watch it.From episode one I was hooked. It captures the atmosphere of the mill perfectly.the characters and the dialogue make this a cut above the average TV offerings.Sit back and just enjoy yourself. This one was worth staying in for!!.
Northern drama that cannot be missed!!!

This series is addictive! Mac owns a factory 'up north' you, have the priviledge of voyeuristically watching the employees lives unfold in each episode. Dont think this is just another dreary stereotype! it is not! There are some fantastic, unpredicatable storylines - each episode can stand alone. An outstanding cast and brilliant acting.
Enjoyable

I completely forgot about this series until it appeared in my Recommendations list. It may not be the most gripping drama ever but it's easy to watch, the characters are believeable as are there various trials and tribulations.

Didn't watch this when it was on TV but we're doing a tour of Brit Shows and it was on the list. Having watched the first series we've been really impressed, great acting, tough stories and believable characters. Well worth a rainy weekend of anyone's time.
