Humans start mutating into aliens in this taut science-fiction thriller. The cause: Small rocks falling from the sky, which trigger a virus latent in every human being. The virus causes alien transformation, and it spreads fast. A group of scientists are running out of time in their attempt to save the world. They have an antidote, but can they administer it before the human race is overrun

Radio Times

Straying slightly from his customary hospital turf, Coma author Robin Cook here inflicts an interstellar virus upon the Earth in a slickly made adventure edited down from a three-hour mini-series. A re-tread of Invasion of the Body Snatchers spiced up with a modern medical slant, it boasts an ominous atmosphere and some decent special effects. However, the cast of TV stalwarts — including Luke Perry and Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall — gets little chance to shine.

Ludicrous on so many levels, but still fun

alienlanes from from London, 26th July, 2008

This made-for-television sci-fi mini-series was first broadcast in three one-hour episodes, including advertising breaks, in 1997, although the version I watched on DVD has a running time of 122 minutes, which suggests some cuts have been made. Blatantly ripped-off from ‘Invasion Of The Body Snatchers’, this really is hilariously bad on so many levels, not least the hysterical performance of Luke Perry, who is in ultra-smug mode throughout (I say this as someone who harbours a soft-spot for Perry). The other actors fare little better. Rebecca Gayheart seems defeated by the mediocre material she is given to work with, although I am too fond of her to be overly critical. The worst performance of the lot comes from Rosana DeSoto (of ‘La Bamba’ fame), who still received an ALMA Award nomination. Having said this, it is still fun to watch if you like this sort of thing, which I certainly do, even if the climax carries all the drama and excitement of a wet weekend in a caravan. Robin Cook wrote the novel ‘Coma’, which was turned into a screenplay by Michael Crichton for the 1978 film of the same name that he also directed

Tripe

Info Rhino from Camelon, Scotland, 7th February, 2007

Thought I'd never seen this before but as soon as I started, realised I had. More's the pity. Was pretty lame rubbish the first time round and really doesn't improve on a second veiwing.
