Radio Times

This screen version of the “cuddly cyborg” cartoon series is the most mindless Hollywood movie you're ever likely to find. Abandoning all plot after the first reel, it devotes its energies to beating us senseless with a succession of slapstick effects sequences. Matthew Broderick's performance as the computerised cop is so bland he barely exists, while the script is witless, ineptly structured and solely reliant on Gadget's extendable bits and bobs. After a few scenes, the novelty wears very thin.

Hmmm !!!!

A Customer from Bury, 20th August, 2005

Not one of the best films to watch on a Saturday Nite. Somewhere along I am sure there is a storyline. A little bit of a let down, was expecting a liitle more.

Poor

Craig Bull from Notts, UK, 17th March, 2009

As a kid I loved Insp Gadget...but this was a disappointment. I think the casting was poor to begin with. Thankfully the film wasn't on very long. Admittingly the special effects were very good, but didn't make up for the poor acting and poor story. Should I bother watching number 2???

Truly disappointing, even my seven year old i-will-watch-anything- son was not able to sit through this.

Inspector Gadget.

A Security Man's dreams all come at once when he is selected to trail being a cybernet police officer. Daft and silly in parts, but nonethe less funny. The children loved it and laughed in all the right places. I remember watching the cartoon Inspector Gadget and I loved that, this film version isn't as good but it's a fair remake.
