Pancho Villa
(1971)

The exciting story of the famous outlaw and revolutionist, Pancho Villa, who was pursued by the armies of both Mexico and the United States. Incredible head-on train collision finale.

Though this western set during the Mexican Revolution of the early 20th century is rather lethargic, it nevertheless has a potentially interesting premise — cynical mercenary Rory Calhoun clashes with idealists Gilbert Roland and Shelley Winters en route to deliver a shipment of gold to legendary rebel leader Villa. But director George Sherman struggles under the gravitas of his theme, and what should have been an action-packed scenario falters thanks to the excessive war of words between the leads. On the plus side, the few set pieces are well staged, and Winters is engaging as an aristocrat who turns revolutionary.
