Ten years after leaving university, Peter and his best friends reunite for a New Year's party to end all parties. Having weathered most of life's triumphs and disasters, there doesn't seem to be much left to shock them - but Peter has a special surprise that will test their friendship to the utmost. A wonderfully wicked comedy about life, love and other natural disasters.

Peter's Friends

A Customer from London, England, 20th April, 2007

Very accurate take on the relationships that bind friends and lovers in their early 30s. I identified with it. But it was weepier than I expected so have the tissues ready. Poor performance from Brannagh (as always) and Slattery was weak, but the rest of the cast, Thompson, Laurie and Fry in particular, more than compensated for this.

Lovely!

A Customer from Exeter, England, 6th July, 2007

This shouldn't be good - it IS smug and posh and luvvy-ish, but it is also very evocative of the period and affecting. Slattery and Brannagh play their odious selves, as usual, but whats not to love about Stephen Fry? Essential quiet Saturday night with chocolate ice cream viewing.

Posh tosh

Amorini from Devon, 8th June, 2006

This film is quietly pleasing, if only for seeing many of Britain's great comedy actors looking much younger and fresher!

There are some moving scenes, but this was much more enjoyable when it first came out, which isn't as long ago as it feels upon reviewing this.

Great actors and a great soundtrack but a fairly dull movie.

Much better than I expected

MinkyNinky from , 30th August, 2009

Hmm. A bunch of thirty-something, upper middle class media types having a reunion with old Cambridge chums at a big country house ? Played by the cream of 90s luvvydom ? Get me outta here !! But this film is great - well acted, great script, funny and sad in perfect proportion. You feel you should despise the characters, but you soon grow to like them. Any potential hyperbole on the part of Brannagh, Fry, Thompson & Co is beautifully balanced by Phylidia Law's down to earth housekeeper. A perfect film for a quiet Saturday night in, this will leave you with a big smile on your face.

Horrible Film

This film is truly awful. If you are expecting a feel good comedy, do not watch it.

Terribly Terribly!

Shelley21 from from Wimborne, Dorset, 12th May, 2009

An incredibly British Upper Class gang of friends who used to do comedy gigs together at university meet up for a reunion after ten years. It's a poignant look at how life can take some unexpected turns for good and bad, but I found this a pleasant and witty little romp with a bittersweet end.
