High energy action film about an illegal and lengthy marathon road race, the Trans-American Grand Prix, where the goal is to make it to the finish without being arrested or incinerated. There are no rules or judges, just a $100,000 prize. Look for cameos from Scorcese and Stallone.

Radio Times

This is nothing more than a poor retread of director Paul Bartel's wilder and wittier Death Race 2000, with all the expensive futuristic trappings removed and loads more epic car crashes added. David Carradine is “Cannonball” Buckman, who signs up for the illegal Trans-American Grand Prix cross-country car race between Los Angeles and New York, where no rules apply and underhand sabotage is de rigueur. Great stunts, shame about the formula-one plot.

Pretty boring stuff

TopDollar from , 3rd November, 2007

Although David Carradine does a good job as the car racer. I found the overall film to be pretty slow and boring, with characters that were not that credible. Parts are funny, but not funny enough. They could have learned a few lessons from The Cannonball Run (unless that came out later..?). If you're into car chases etc. then you would probably enjoy parts of this. I don't mind car chases, but I need for the script to be a bit more interesting than this.

Good for a laugh

A Customer from London, 12th January, 2006

I remembered seeing this film as a kid and rented it for old times sake. The acting and plot are a bit 'random' but some of the car action sequences are quite good. If you're into 70's American cars you'll love it, there are a few choice kitch comedy moments, and a very young looking Syvester Stollone stars briefly as a gangsters henchman. Good fun but only if you’re into cars or 70’s b movies.

Not Bad.

A Customer from Essex. England, 1st September, 2005

Wasn't sure I would like this rented it as a friend remembered it from his childhood and being a car nut wanted to see it again. Dvd froze and lost sound a few times. If you like 70's car chase movies give it a go. Don't ask to much from it and you woll be o.k!

great movie

Arcam3:16 from Bedford, 6th March, 2006

I saw this film when I was a kid and thought I would get it again for sheer comical value but I forgot how good this movie was. the genre of the road race movie was quite strong around this time with Gumball rally and Cannonball run. This is a bit more serious(loosley used) and Caradine gives a slick performace as Cannonball. Not bad for a throw away movie not bad at all.
