Cannonball

High energy action film about an illegal and lengthy marathon road race, the Trans-American Grand Prix, where the goal is to make it to the finish without being arrested or incinerated. There are no rules or judges, just a $100,000 prize. Look for cameos from Scorcese and Stallone.

This is nothing more than a poor retread of director Paul Bartel's wilder and wittier Death Race 2000, with all the expensive futuristic trappings removed and loads more epic car crashes added. David Carradine is Cannonball Buckman, who signs up for the illegal Trans-American Grand Prix cross-country car race between Los Angeles and New York, where no rules apply and underhand sabotage is de rigueur. Great stunts, shame about the formula-one plot.
