A man relentlessly tracks a group of slave traders who have kidnapped his beautiful wife...

Rating of 2 stars out of 5
Radio Times

This overblown adventure stars Michael Caine and Beverly Johnson as married doctors, who are working for the World Health Organisation in a small West African village when Johnson is kidnapped by slave-trader Peter Ustinov for wealthy prince Omar Sharif. Caine sets off to track her down — a journey as heavy-going as tap-dancing on sand thanks to Richard Fleischer's leisurely direction and Ustinov's lack of menace. William Holden and Rex Harrison put in cameo appearances as though performing a duty, while Caine is inanimate and inadequate.

Good film from Caine

A Customer from Shropshire, 22nd September, 2005

I really enjoyed watching this film. The first time I watched it was in the early 80s and I could vaguely remember that it was a good film. Michael Caine plays his role well as the doctor who is searching for his beautiful wife played by Beverly Johnson, who gets kidnapped in Africa whilst vaccinating the local villagers. The film follows his adventure of how he struggles to hunt for her with the authorities being less than helpful. Peter Ustinov is the bad guy and Kabir Bedi plays his role excellently as Caine's aid in searching for his wife. Other well known actors include Omar Sharif, Rex Harrison and William Holden . There is something about these old films that cannot be reproduced in the new films that come out now. This film was good to watch.

Camels and Sand

A Customer from Bristol, 8th August, 2005

Michael Caine and Omar Sharif showing their swashbuckling skills. Not edge of your seat drama but nevertheless excellant viewing. Unlike more recent films does not rely on gratuitouse sex, violence and swearing to tell the story. A pleasant change.

Fun but dated

A Customer from Darkest Derbyshire, 26th June, 2005

It might be dated but any film with Michael Caine and Peter Ustinov is well worth watching.
