Young boy befriends larcenous orangutan in luxury hotel.

Radio Times

Here's the primate with the mostest! Early Tarzan films led the way, with the ape-man's own furry jungle swinger, Cheetah. Now there's Dunston (played by Sam), an orang-utan acting as the unwilling sidekick to a snooty English peer (Rupert Everett) who wants to use him to burgle New York's Majestic Hotel. It's amiable tosh, but Dunston's antics — especially when he's rescued by the hotel manager's two young sons — are as delightfully appealing as Faye Dunaway's rudely ruthless proprietor is unattractive.

Enjoyable, smartly written farce that also charms; the laughs keep coming.

Fantastic Fun

A Customer from Yaxley, East Anglia, 3rd March, 2005

If you like Monkeys then this is the film for you, its action packed fun all the way with hillarious moments with the singer in the fountain, and also the monkey in the greenhouse, right up to the ball at the end. Great Stuff!!

Funny but ruined by kids

A Customer from Oving, 14th December, 2008

I saw this with my wife ages ago and we thought it was hilarious. We particularly loved Rupert Everett's acting. We had children just so we could show them this film (Ok I exaggerate a little) but the kids did not get it at all - maybe they are too young still (our oldest is 5). The films biggest drawback is the child stars: why do American film producers think that loud and whining equals cute? I thought he house was trying to take off until I turned the sound down on the telly.

Monkey fun

A Customer from Reading, 13th December, 2006

My 6 year old son loved it and found it really funny. I'm not one for performing monkeys but it was amusing enough to watch as a family film.

I love this film... It has adventure and mischief... When Dunston checks in all hell breaks loose.... It made me laugh so hard i neally peed myself.. heheheh. It has no sex, violence or swearwords in... Its nice to see a kids movie with none of that.. A highly recommended film...
