to think this actualy goes on in the world

A Customer from essex, 17th April, 2005

this film is very emotional and powerful, at the beging the scene's are very disturbing, the acting is intence as is the story. to think this actually goes on in the world is a scary thing, how one's mind works is such a mistery, how any body could inforce such abuse on their own child. the suffering, the neglect this child endured is sickening. this film is not for the weak stomached, if you like real life drama films then this one is to be watched.

Painful but very good

A Customer from Norfolk, 9th May, 2005

Excellent cast, excellent acting. A painfully true story without a happy ending. Not one to watch if you are feeling at all vulnerable, but still very much worth it.

Psychology case study

A Customer from Derby, 12th May, 2005

This is one to watch if you are studying psychology! The film is based on a famous case study about a girl called Genie who was locked in a room with very little human contact until she was 13. The film is very interesting and i recommend watching it! However it should be noted that it is only loosely based on the case study and does exclude some important points! To get a true understanding of the case study i would recomend reading one of the numerous books that have been written regarding it!

Sick but fascinating because it's true!

A Customer from Worcestershire, England, 24th July, 2004

What can I say? We all think that this sort of thing only happens in horror films!! As a mother of three girls, I found this really hard viewing but, had to watch because this really does happen! How? Why? I don't know but it does open your eyes and make you realise that some children have so much strength and courage that they overcome all adversities that are thrown at them by some sick adults.
Not enjoyable but compulsary viewing.

How can anyone treat another human like this??

A disappointment

A Customer from England, 19th July, 2007

I learnt more about the central character from 3 minutes in a documentary. The characters were wooden and one dimensional, being either goodies or baddies. This was a collection of scenes with little to connect it, perhaps trying to cram too much into 90 minutes. I really cant recommend it.

Not as good as it looks

A Customer from Lockerbie, Scotland, 10th January, 2006

The case is very interesting, though shocking but the film does not do it justice. Alot of detail is missing and it skips too much. Worth watching but by no means a great portrayal of a very sad story.
