Good, but not quite Wing Chun

Matt Richards from Wolverhampton, England, 6th October, 2005

As with his Sil Lim Tao DVD, Master Wong presents a Wing Chun form which is not actually Wing Chun, but a form he has personally developed. As a result, unless you actually train at Wong's academy, this DVD is useless as a resource for Wing Chun practitioners as far as forms go. Wong calls this form Thum Kiu, rather than Chum Kiu. In 'real' Wing Chun, Chum Kiu means 'searching the bridge'. Thum Kiu means 'sinking the bridge'. I actually like Wong's method of 'sinking' rather than 'searching'. There's no doubting the man has talent and I do really like his take on the Wing Chun system. But I cannot recommend this DVD as a resource on forms for Wing Chun practitioners.

dont think all wing chun schools r like this one !because there not!!

neil sparkes from england, 2nd November, 2004

being a wing chun man myself i found this dvd useless, wing chun is about simplicity ,and is direct & striaght to the point this is far from that .arm & chest destructions, why would u want to do that ! when u could pop someone in the face instead ! bullsh*t moves that dont work under pressure ! this guy looks good to the average joe bloggs (flashy moves, etc )the forms r way differant to master yip mans forms . gives wing chun a bad name. wing chun is a great system when taught right from true instructers

Pathetic!

A Customer from Norwich, England, 22nd June, 2006

I've been doing Wing Chun for over a decade and this is probably the worst kind of crap I have ever seen. Although the video is well produced it offers nothing in the way of explanations (or Wing Chun for that matter) nor does it have any teaching value. This is the first one I've seen of this series and will certainly be the last (shudder).

Thum Kiu not Chum kiu

A Customer from England, 18th November, 2005

A stylised version of the Wing Chun Chum Kiu form. Showboating by Wong but probably no real value for someone wanting any in depth instruction in the Wing Chun Chum Kiu form. Entertaining to watch if only to admire the fluidity and evident practice of Wong and his students.
