When a commercial jetliner transporting a death-row rapist/serial killer falls into the seductive psycho's hands, a plucky flight attendant attempts not only to escape the lunatic's plans to torture and kill her, but to personally land the 747 before the nutcase can achieve his kamikaze goal of going up in a ball of flames. A kinetic thriller from the producer of JAGGED EDGE.

Radio Times

This is one of the more manic of the countless Die Hard imitations, with Ray Liotta as a psycho who hijacks a Christmas Eve flight transporting him to prison. Lauren Holly plays the plucky flight attendant who has to beat off Liotta's advances and attempt to land the aircraft safely. This is far from sophisticated adult entertainment, but it's so ludicrously overblown that it's hard not to be won over by the sheer enthusiasm and abandonment of logic and credibility. Veteran director Robert Butler is an old hand when it comes to this kind of airborne nonsense, having made the 1976 TV movie Mayday at 40,000 Feet!, not to mention several episodes of the TV series The New Adventures of Superman.

Suspending Disbelief

A Customer from London, England, 17th August, 2004

The thrills, the spills, the gaping plot holes! The number of times Holly and Hicks do or say something really stupid just so yet another tense and scary situation can be set up further down the line...

Worth seeing for Liotta's hilarious psycho-bad boy performance, and great special effects, but that's about it.

Ludicrous but seat of the pants excitement

A Customer from Surrey, 9th February, 2009

This is a very silly film with weak performances from all except Liotta who is quite scary as the serial killer. If you suspend disbelief (like how camp is it to cover the interior of a 747 with Christmas decorations for a Christmas Eve flight from NYC to LA with 12 passengers) it is quite an exciting seat of the pants (but cliched) thriller, especially the last half hour where the heroine stewardess has to not only fight off the serial killer but land the 747 against all odds at LAX. I was cheering her on - how sad is that!

is it meant to be so funny?

GordonBennett from , 17th December, 2009

The effects aren't bad but the rest is so dreadful its almost hilarious. Liotas nutter is pretty much the same as any nutter he plays, hammy and over the top. Maybe he knew the film would be so bad and thought 'what the heck!'. however most of the acting is worse. The script is insulting to the intelligence of air hostesses and audiences all over the world apart from maybe the country of it's conception. Apart from Liota, and the chap who plays the older cop (who arrests him at the beginning) this film should be used as a guide. list everyone who was involved in it and avoid every film they are associated with. no need to include a spoiler in this review as the film manages to do that for itself
