Excellent, but worth the hype?

Campaign mode is similar in structure to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, however it appears to have been made easier than before, and many gamers are saying this is the easiest Call Of Duty game they have played. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, as Veteran difficulty on previous titles has led to frustration and giving up after trying to reach a checkpoint too many times. The presentation has moved on a bit, with animation appearing to be improving, and the overall package doesn't spoil the illusion of being involved in a real battle. Co-op missions are a bit of a let-down, as they require you to invite friends to join you. That is frustrating, as many friends are busy doing other things, including playing team deathmatch on this game, so often don't want to be disturbed. It would have been much better if you could just join a random player. Also, it's limited to 2 player co-op, which seems a bit dated, given that many co-op games allow 4 players to work together. I was really hoping they were going to make the actual campaign a co-op experience, but it seems my wishes are never going to be fulfilled in a COD game. Multiplayer on Xbox Live, is still there and as good as always. I'm yet to experiment fully with the maps, but it appears that they have been designed to discourage camping, but there are still hiding spots for those that like to. The multiplayer is probably the main reason to own MW2; it's just a shame they don't attach any achievements to this game mode. Altogether a good package, with strong campaign and multiplayer, but the matchmaking in co-op loses marks unless you definitely have somebody to play alongside you.
