Sam Rockwell (MATCHSTICK MEN) stars in this thought-provoking science fiction film. After spending three years on the moon as a solitary miner, Sam Bell (Rockwell) is almost ready to return home to his wife and daughter. But as his homecoming approaches, he begins to experience strange things that can't be explained and his employer may have a sinister plan in mind for him. MOON is the directorial debut of commercial helmer Duncan Jones.

Box Office

Anchored by a dexterous performance from indie stalwart Sam Rockwell and shot in lean, expressive and slightly surreal visual tone that recalls Tarkovsky's SOLARIS, MOON harkens back to pre-STAR WARS American science fiction films...

Rockwell - Rocks Well

Fenster from , 20th November, 2009

Moon delivers. Well done to Duncan Jones for doing such a good job on his debut! And at Shepperton Studios no less! I've only really known Sam Rockwell previously as 'the funny weird one from Galaxy Quest' and as a fringe actor who aptly plays the dumb hillbilly or provides the light humour. You could see potential in him but not much promise of ever seeing it develop. So another thing to thank Duncan Jones for is bringing to light just how brilliantly fantastic an actor Sam really is. My opinion of him has really escalated and I'm now a big fan - he deserves more lead roles because his performance in Moon is just that great. The whole movie is well put together and you can tell that Mr Jones profited from also having a superb team, from the set design to the models/CGI and beyond. It is actually difficult to write an epic review (like I would usually) without giving too much away, but this is a must see for any fan of sci-fi indie films (and for any avid film lover too for that matter).

This film was extremelly low budget however you should not lower your expectations. Marvelous performance by Sam Rockwell. Plot is 5 star, with a great twist which i didn't really see coming.

Story of one man on his 3 year tour of service on the moon. Nicely done. Shame they couldn't get the gravity right in both moonwalks and whilst in the base.

A fantastic little movie. The story is based upon a quasi-religious theme. We live, we work and if we do well we are sent to our own idea of heaven. A thought provoking , clever movie

The dark side of the

I think you have to like sci-fi but not be addicted to it. Human interest is really what it is about. Some parallels with 2001 a Space Odyssey - man and computer and remoteness from Earth - but in many ways more satisfactory and subtle. Nice pace and build.
