Dennis Quaid (FREQUENCY) stars in this thriller of Biblical proportions. Widowed detective Aidan Breslin (Quaid) looks into a series of seemingly dissimilar murders, but his investigation soon uncovers the work of a killer who is using Revelations' Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as a template. Breslin grows more engrossed in the investigation, with his attention shifting even further from his lonely sons (played by THUMBSUCKER's Lou Taylor Pucci and Liam James) to discovering the identity of the murderer. HORSEMEN also stars Ziyi Zhang (MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA), Clifton Collins Jr. (CAPOTE), Patrick Fugit (SAVED!), and Peter Stormare (CONSTANTINE). Stylish director Jonas Akerlund (SPUN) reigns over the grisly proceedings.

i hadent heard of this film when i put it on my list so i had no expectations of it.the film itself starts of quite interesting with a good idea it soon fizzles away into mediocrity,a police man gets so involved in a case that he drops his motherless children to try to solve the case and so not noticing whats goin on around him.its not the worst film ive seen but its very average and i was pleased it was only on for 90mins.

Try putting it on your roses!

It would have taken more than four horses to make this much c**p! Started off as a promising 'Se7en' type idea. Then gets tied down with the usual:

'Widowed/Divorced cop bringing up kids he never sees'
'Serial killer with a theme'
'Twist in the plot'
'Happy Hollywood ending!'

Unbeliveably the film is only 80 minutes long. Poor acting, predictable plot (yes I guessed whodunnit) and holes in the story that you could drive a truck through.
Totally farcical, don't waste your 80 minutes. The four horsemen for me were:
'crappy', 'hammy', 'boring', 'sneezy' and 'doc' (OK I lied, there were 5 and I borrowed 2 from Snow White, which, incidently, scared me more).

Leaves you wondering...

BigMeUp from , 12th December, 2009

Why would anyone cast someone with as silly a face as Dennis Quaid in a serious film? What was Zhang Ziyi doing when she accepted this role? Since Ziyi's character ostensibly has been living in Canada for over ten years from the age of eight, why can't she speak English more intelligibly? Why would the script writer(s) think anybody would find the plot believable? As the final `reveal` is telegraphed barely half-way into the film, from whence did the director think to find any dramatic tension? The answers, I'm afraid, are not comforting, and the film is certainly not worth the price of admission. All-in-all, a truly dreadful effort, with nothing to recommend it.

Apocalyptic Failure

Crosscourtnick from , 13th December, 2009

Oh dear. You don't realise just how good a good film is until you see a poor one. This is that poor film. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what doesn't work, more likely a combination of a number of substandard factors. The two main characters are weak and over-egged, the script and score cheesy. Probably the most outstanding feature of this film is the cover artwork. Save your money and buy/rent something else.

Another shame

dutchfilms from , 14th March, 2010

I do like stories like this one, especially when they have biblical references and brutal murders in them. This one however just plays along until the end and doesn't really give anything new, or something to remember. Such a shame, it could have had potential.

Anticlimax

immortalandmog from , 7th March, 2010

This film sounded really interesting. The plot was weak, the gore was implied, and the ending was terrible. The whole thing was predictable, and I expected better from Dennis Quaid. No wonder I had never heard of it. Sending it back quickly so you can put it back in the obscurity drawer!

Worth a watch

This film unfolds with, as the title proposes, a story with a biblical theme. It can be a little grusome at times but a watchable film.

reasonabe film

Not a bad film, if a bit predictable. If it was on tv i would watch and not feel cheated, but i wouldn't go out and buy it. A descent enough film when you have a couple of hours to kill
