ANGELS AND DEMONS re-teams director Ron Howard and star Tom Hanks for the sequel to their international blockbuster adaptation of Dan Brown's novel THE DA VINCI CODE. Although the book Angels and Demons was written before the novel THE DA VINCI CODE, the movie transpires after the events of the earlier movie. Hanks stars as Professor Robert Langdon, the most respected symbologist in the United States, who uses his knowledge in order to decode a symbol on the skin of a murder victim. The clues put him on the trail of an international conspiracy involving the Catholic Church. Ewan McGregor and Ayelet Zurer also star in the Sony Pictures production.

Predicableq

Mark Winter from Suffolk, 30th September, 2009

If you have seen The Da Vinci Code (TDVC), which will probably be 99% of people watching this film, then it follows exactly the same format. Although you may be please to hear this, for me this was bad because it was too similar. Everything was good in the film (acting, effects, scenes, plot etc). However the film went on too long, and it was just too similar to TDVC. Admitedly I did watch the extended version, but this was only 10 minutes longer, and the film was perhaps 45 too long. If you watch this film, and you liked TDVC, then you should enjoy this film. However for me it was too similar, and for me it fails the wanting to watch again test. In summary it is too long and too similar to TDVC, but follows a predictable winning format so should not dissapoint.

THE DA VINCI CODE II: THIS TIME, IT'S PAPAL!

Norman Barry from Surrey, England., 5th January, 2010

I haven't read the book, so I don't know how well / badly this compares. An enjoyable enough retreading of 'The Da Vinci Code', with added action. I found McGregor distracting as he stood out as a 'face' in a largely unknown cast. You know straight away that his character will be at the centre of the (wholly predicatable) 'twist', HE'S EWAN MCGREGOR FOR FCUKS SAKE! Zurer provides the eye candy, looking like half a Nigella Lawson.

Angels and Lemons

A Customer from England, 13th October, 2009

Possibly the worst film I have seen in the last 5 years. Ludicrously narrative dialogue and clumsy narrative tricks such as eavesdropping on news crew reporting. Laughable plot and direction and a low point in the careers of all involved including those responsible for the woeful cgi. One star awarded for the only redeeming feature and that is Rome as the backdrop.

Excellent

Another good film courtesy of Ron Howard. Tom Hanks again great as The Professor of symbology. This film is made all the better if you know Rome, a little gory, but then again if you have read the book you will know what to expect.
