Taxing an enjoyable

TaipanUk from , 20th September, 2009

Arcade mode is realistic enough for most! Good throttle controls, HUD, weapon overheat and very good graphics. Better realism than other flying games - more of a flight sim than a flying game in fact. The spray of engine oil over the cockpit screen from a winged opponent is a joy! Online play can be fun but infuriating when you simply cannot shake a good player off your tail! A great challenge and a great buy..

great while it lasts

This is the first flight sim game which gets the balance between realism and fun just about right. Its a WW2 sim so you have to get up close and personal with your machine guns. This makes the game much more involving than more modern flt sims. Its not that long and you do the same kinds of things on most missions but the real life background to the missions give them more meaning. The graphics are fantastic and a great advert for avoiding the google earth effect seen in other flt sims.

Tally Ho!

Grab your tin bird and engage the Hunn over europe in the quite marvelous flight sim. Beautiful to look at, excellent damage models, decent range of aircraft and far more challenging than any modern day flight sim, namely because you have machine guns and not much else. No laser guided rockets or lock-on's to be found here, which may put some people off, but to me it just adds to the realism. Games such as Tom Clancy's HAWX are easier to play, namely because of assisted targetting, but I'd give both a go before committing to either one, as they are both decent enough flight sims and you are pretty limited to what you can choose on PS3 for this genre.

WWII Flying Action

A Customer from Gretna, 1st September, 2009

A proper WWII flight sim with online multiplayer. Fight across six increasingly hairy theatres of war in a fleet of aircraft over super-realistic and immersive terrain. It's ace, but leave the safety of 'arcade mode' at your peril. And watch your six!
