Outstanding

Mark Winter from Suffolk, 30th September, 2009

I have been desparatedly wanting to watch this film since it was released at the cinema. It did not disappoint. Everything was outstanding with this film. The plot, cast, scenery, tension, directing etc. Even the numerous Blu-ray/DVD extras were outstanding. I cannot think of any film I have ever seen where I have seen every minute of every extra. I'm a football fan in my late 30's supporing a small division 2 London club. However this film should appeal to all football fans, of all ages and not just Nottingham Forest/Derby/Brighton or Leeds. Although it does portray Leeds exactly as the 'Ugly' champions that they were. I cannot fault any aspect of this film. Although having watched the 'deleted scenes', I'm suprised at how many were deleted. I would seriously encourage you to watch all the deleted scenes if you watch the film. If you are a Clough fan, then you will be delighted to know that this film is nothing like the book. Cloughy is portrayed as the good guy, and Don Revie and Leeds the bad guys. Love him or hate him, I guarantee that after watching this film you will love and respect him for what he was - a genious, and 'the best manager England never had'. This film also portrays the relationship between Clough and Peter Taylor. They are almost portrayed as a married couple. They fight, they make up, they kiss and hug each other. They were the ultimate football partnership. Any footie fan should enjoy this film. It's a feel good film they will leave you very emotional.

That Damned United

WaynePurcell from from Beckenham, 4th March, 2010

This film strips bare Brian Cloughs steely character and underlines his fierce rivalry and stubborn determination that nearly finished his career. For all you Notts fans out there, be aware that this film deals with his life before those glory days. It shows his genius and really does leave you wondering why he was never England manager and what would have happened if he would have been.

OK take on the Clough era at Leeds . Out-takes added much to the story not sure why left out. Poor portraits of the players but well acted by the two main characters Clough and Taylor . A perfect example of the parts being better than the whole
