The undead are on the march in bowling alley, though they aren't aware of what's happening to them in this ambitious blend of horror and comedy. Military intelligence forces are attempting to formulate a drug that will turn ordinary soldiers into invincible killing machines, but their latest batch has far too many unpleasant side effects, and the green slime is rejected. However, by accident the stuff is shipped to a bowling alley in a small town, where sweet but un-ambitious Timmy (Michael Grant Terry) moons over Cindy (Betsy Beutler) and smart-mouthed Mike (Matthew Davis) swaps insults with former flame Vanessa (Juliana Robinson). Assuming the goo is some sort of ice cream, they wolf it down and soon turn into drooling flesh-hungry zombies. However, one of the unusual effects of the drug is that those using it are unaware of its impact, so Timmy, Cindy, Mike and Vanessa are quite puzzled as others flee in terror at the sight of them. WASTING AWAY was the first feature from director and co-screenwriter Matthew Kohnen.

Wasting away time

A Customer from Midlands, 13th October, 2009

Not a lot to say about this apart from it was a real waste of time and rental. My advice, don't bother with it.

B Movie with a Twist

A Customer from Harpenden, 26th October, 2009

Started watching this and found myself thinking 'oh no, I've rented a black and white b movie that doesn't have all the little quirks that make b movies watchable!' and when it got to the point were they ate the ice creams I thought 'I might have to give up and switch this off!' But I persevered and I recommend you do too because suddenly it all becomes clear when the colour kicks in that yes you may be watching a b movie but this zombie movie has a real twist and the jumps between black and white and colour have real meaning!!! I found myself really enjoing this unique take on the zombie genre and when the b movie jokes started rolling in I was in stitches :)

shaun of the dead it aint...

...but its not 'that' bad either. its a nice change from your typical zombie fare that aims squarely at B-movie status. not to be taken seriously at all with plot canyons let alone holes but i didnt feel robbed of my hour and 30 or so mins that it took to watch it. its defo a movie for b-movie fans.
