19th century justice has finally caught up to grave robbers Arthur Blake and Willie Grimes. With the specter of the guillotine looming over him, young Blake confides in visiting clergyman Father Duffy, recounting fifteen years of adventure in the resurrection trade. His tale leads from humble beginnings as a young boy stealing trinkets from corpses, to a partnership with seasoned ghoul Willie Grimes as they hunt creatures unwilling to accept their place in the ground. The colorful and peculiar history of Grimes and Blake is one filled with adventure, horror, and vicious rivalries that threaten to put all involved in the very graves they're trying to pilfer.

Brilliant a must see film

A Customer from Kilwinning, 17th May, 2009

I saw this at a festival and the entire cinema seemed to enjoy it going by the applause. It is a great laugh with a few jumps and a lot of poking the fun at hammer horror films all be it I'm not too sure on how deliberate this was. Please don't think this is a horror film that will terrify. If you liked the humour in the evil dead films you will love this film.

Poor show

BartlebabyRockenstein from , 12th November, 2009

The best bit of the film was the opening titles - a great pastiche of antiquated horror scores playing over an old-school series of images. Unfortunately, for the main event, the script is just not up to scratch: there is nothing even remotely funny in it. As for the horror, it's - well - not very horrible. The special effects are just a little hokey - obviously affectionately so, given the film's unashamed homage to a bygone aesthetic long since buried. However, the cast are all good value, even given the lightweight plotting and dialog, but even their sterling efforts (full-on hamming in most cases) can't breathe life into a flick that would better remain buried.

Ron Pearlman saves the day - almost

Wooster from , 8th November, 2009

I Sell The Dead felt like a low budget film taken from a short story elongated enough to make a full length feature film. A bit like some of those made-for-TV Stephen King adaptations.
My guess is that the film was floundering so to get a bit of box office action a big name was needed and along came Ron.
Ron as a priest with an Irish accent seemed strange and not really believable, but not really a problem I suppose as the film was about corpses reanimating.
OK so it was alright really for a Saturday night with pizza but the stories within the story, flashbacks and general jumping around just made a somewhat lacklustre film even duller and confusing.

Wake me up when its finished?

A Customer from Guernsey, 9th December, 2009

As you can judge by my title...i was so bored watching this that i actually forgot i was meant to be watching it. Their voices were muffled so i had to turn it up really loud to understand them and i didnt really find it that funny, there wasnt much of a plot to it. As you know, i fell asleep half way through. Not something to write home about really im afraid.

Ok in places

King1and from , 21st March, 2010

Just an ok movie. The cast obviously done it for laughs and not to be taken too seriously. Filmed in darkness to give it that eerie feel. The dead look good/funny. Nothing here to scare you just give you a little titter. Ron Perlman shows up as he tends to do with these low budget horror/sci fi type of films. Dominic Monaghan and Larry Fessenden play two grave robbers. Dominic's character starts off as a small kid, (Larry is an adult already) then turns into Dominic. Strange thing, Larry's character, (Willie) doesn't age one day, odd but that's film for you. See it but don't expect anything too much.

Had potential. Shame.

SeedyDeedee from , 19th March, 2010

This was so nearly a good film. They had all the elements - a decent plot, decent actors and a great setting - but for some reason this never really gelled. The film feels disjointed and suffers from poor sound and a lacklustre atmosphere. A shame, really.

twistedly amusing

willowangel from , 18th March, 2010

This was really quite funny in a light hearted, slightly twisted sort of way. starring Ron Perlman and Dominic Monaghan, it's about grave robbing and body snatching, but also features vampires, aliens, zombies and other undead and has a funny twist at the end. my fave part was when Willy was putting the stake in and out of the vampire, causing the vampire to be live, then dead, then alive, then dead lol
