Paul Carty is 19, and bored out of his mind. His mother died a year ago. He lives in middle class suburbia with his silently grieving father and feisty young sister, Molly. Carty works as a junior civil servant and spends all his wages on clubs, records, football and gigs. It's at a Bunnymen gig that he meets Elvis. Elvis changes everything.

He's part of a gang called The Pack. The Pack are notorious; they dress in a cultish, almost effeminate style that's at odds with the boneheads and bootboys they fight against. But in truth Elvis wants to keep Carty away from The Pack, to not lose the person he's come to know. But despite his best efforts Carty gets deeper and deeper into the scene, heading inevitably to self destruction.

Stay Away

BigDev from from Oldham, 26th August, 2009

The fault I made was expecting something similar to Football Factory but with a softer side. What I got was a film about a gay football thug who is in love with a straight wannabe football thug. Brokeback Mountain with Football is the only way to describe it.

A Firm Favourite

manonfireuk from , 28th May, 2009

This isn't just another Football Factory or Green Street. This is a story about friendship and love, life in a firm in the 70's simply acts as a catalyst. I thought it was a great story, well acted with a superb soundtrack.

Don't Bother...

Fordy from , 28th September, 2009

I wasn't expecting much from this film but It turns out my expectations were still too high. Very slow pace, extremely dull and boring. No morals and no story line. Even the fight scenes are rubbish. Don't Bother!!.... No, seriously!...Don't!

Dull as dishwater - pointless film

rubbishreview from , 1st October, 2009

I am not sure what the point of this film nor could i care. Did it have a good cast? Yes Did it have a good synopsis? Yes Was it interesting? No, not really. Was it any good? Not at all. So much so i switched it off halfway through which says a lot for me.

Good....... only if you're a Birkenhead-er

A Customer from Liverpool, 16th March, 2010

Described as a scouse football film. Couldn’t have been further from the truth. The accents are awful along with the acting and the characters. Typical Birkenhead stuff. Don’t watch if you’re from Liverpool, watch if you’re from the Wirral as it’s as much excitement as you’ll get!

good film & soundtrack

gingerspike from , 3rd March, 2010

not the greatest film ever made with a storyline involving football hooligans (eg I.D., Football Factory, Green Street) but a very good film nonetheless with a good storyline and a great soundtrack.

Nice Soundtrack - shame about the film

LordBrockett from , 2nd March, 2010

I found this movie very dull and agree with the sentiments of the other reviews. The only plus point was the soundtrack which consisted of rarely heard songs from the era by Echo and the bunnymen, Ultravox, Joy Division, pete shelley and the Cure.

Not overly impressed.

Stanberry from , 28th February, 2010

Was expecting a bit more from this but found it a bit slow and generally boring. Apart from that the DVD gave up half way through but wasn't too worried about not seeing the end!
