Could Have Been So Much Funnier

A Customer from Stockport, 14th October, 2009

I can't believe some people have given this film 4 or 5* ratings?!! I was really disappointed with this film as it could have been so much funnier, especially with Vince Vaughn in it who normally provides all the humour. His co-star Jon Favreau who plays Joey seems to steal his thunder. As for funny parts in the film, I can only remember 2 particularly funny scenes. The scene with the yoga 'sex positions' instructor, and also the part with the little boy in the bathroom store, but that was it. To be honest I was quite bored all the way through, apart from when the yoga instructor popped up on the screen which made it a bit more interesting I suppose ;) A brief synopsis - A couple are heading for a divorce but before they do they want to try one last time to perhaps save their marriage by going to a couple's retreat with therapy on a beautiful island. They can only afford to go if they take out the group package, so they encourage their friends to go with them (who all have very different relationships with their partners). What their friends think will be a great holiday (and a late honeymoon in one case), turns out to be a therapy retreat that they all have to take part in (not just the couple having marriage problems) which may bring them closer together, or may have the opposite effect. I mean who wants to watch couples sitting with therapists talking about their marriage? (obviously some people, as they've given it 4/5*! - crazy!) I wouldn't want to watch this film again.

Absolutely Painful

Don't waste 2 hours of your life on this completely mediocre film!! The only thing funny about it is, just how bad the storyline is - Completely predictable

A light, amusing film that is beautiful to watch due to the location and the occasional character. It was perfect for our girls night out.

Has its moments but basically predictable

PaulaWestwood from , 16th October, 2009

At closely approaching 2 hours a rom com of this nature has to be either hugely entertaining or hilarious. Sadly despite a few reasonable ish moments the whole package is neither. With a marriage on the rocks a couple decide (for financial reasons) to embroil 3 Pairs of friends into partaking in an Eden like holiday to an idyllic island in order to re-awaken their interest in each other. The consequences are always predictable and there is never any doubt whatsoever where this will lead, but the beautiful scenery (both geographical and physical) make up some way to just about jostle this one along pleasantly enough. One I would not go out of my way to watch, but definately might be worth a low placing on your rental list.

Quite Funny Really

Minny from , 12th March, 2010

This is a bit predictable but it does have its funny moments and I msut admit I did laugh out loud a few times. It is a gentle comedy really that does not offend. The characters are great both the couples and all the people who work at the retreat. If you like light hearted comedy without any underside then this is an enjoyable film.
