Total Film

[C]onsidered, articulate, intelligent....Winslet's precise performance is matched every way by Kross, an 18-year-old German actor who manages to convey love, lust and torment with barely a twitch of his fresh, open face

I'D REALLY LOVE TO SHAG WINSLET!

Norman Barry from Surrey, England., 4th March, 2010

This disc sat on the side for a few days because I wasn't in the mood for what I thought would be a bit of a dull film. Having finally put it on, it proved to be a slow starter which, if I'm honest, only held my attention due to the regular shots of Winslet's gorgeous tits and arse. I fcucking LOVE Winslet (even if she is in danger of starting to disappear up her own, glorious, arse). If Kross never lays eyes on another female, Winslet's stunning form will have given him enough to put in the 'wank bank' for life. Once I settled into the story I found it engaging and thought provoking. The three lead performances are all effortlessly excellent. Even Ralph (NOT RAIF!) Fiennes (who's been so far up his own arse for so long he's come out the other end) turns in a performance that doesn't reak of his usual pomposity.

Must Read

A Customer from London, 24th February, 2010

A superb examination of some of the very complex issues faced by post war Germany and it's treatment of a difficult recent history. Many views have been expressed on this film but I believe it's key focus is the abdication of collective responsibility for war crimes and a washing of National hands facilitated by show trials and the high profile punishment of relatively insignificant players. Brilliantly portrayed by Winslet and Ganz.

Outstanding

Mark Winter from Suffolk, 10th November, 2009

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It was really refreshing to watch a film without one swear word. However a couple of warnings. Firstly do not watch this film with your parents (there is an awful lot of graphic scenes in the early part of this film) as it would be really embarrassing. Secondly do not find out the secret of this film. It will completely ruin it. The twist was amazing. The basic premise of this film is the relationship a school boy makes with a 35 year old lady. The first third of the film portrays this. This relationship ends and several years later the lady is arrested. The rest of the film shows the trial and aftermath. This is not a courtroom drama. The film flashes backwards to several different years. It does so wonderfully. I find some films confusing, but this wasn't, even though 5 or 6 different years were flashed back to. Again to expand this point will ruin things. There was one point which I didn't understand (the tram scene), and I found the 'is this our mother' scene embarrassingly corny. However this didn't detract from my enjoyment of the film, and is highly recommended.

Well acted, just a little dull

A Customer from London, 2nd March, 2010

Not the greatest film ever, though some interesting moral questions were asked.

What is Kate doing?

Matthew Clayton from Ruthin, 10th February, 2010

This film is terrible. The first half of the film is Kate Winslet having sexual intercourse with a juvenile. The plot is weak. The characters are not developed. There is no background or basis and you finish the film thinking what was that about.
