Not brilliant

Mark Winter from Suffolk, 17th November, 2009

I read the book a few years ago, which I really enjoyed. I knew they were planning a film of the book but thought they had forgotten or I'd missed it. The only positive I can give the film is that the Blu-ray was amazing. Certainly one of the best Blu-ray films I have seen. The special effects of the film were really quite good and the Blu-ray really was amazing. The negatives. The film was not the same as the book. I enjoyed the book, but not the film. The acting was awful. It really was dreadful. If you have ever seen a pantomime, then the production and acting was very similar to this. The story was good, even original. The characters from the book (in the film) come alive. How cool does that sound! However it wasn't done very well. I even skipped forward to see if things got better. I'd give the effects 4 stars, and likewise for the cast. However the general acting, production and plot bring my overall mark down to 2.5 stars. I then opted for 2 stars rather than 3. After enjoying the book I really wanted to enjoy this film, but however much I tried I couldn't.

Good family film

A Customer from East Anglia, 19th February, 2010

As a family we thoroughly enjoyed this. Probably too much for the 5 year old but 8 and above and this is good all round entertainment with plenty to keep both adults and children entertained.
