TV Guide's Movie Guide

Aja's way with gristle and grue makes for a number of arresting images, and the second half, in which the secret of the mirrors is gradually revealed, is actually stronger than the first

good thriller but not scary

Mark Winter from Suffolk, 20th October, 2009

Ok film. I was expecting better. I'm glad to have seen it, but wouldn't want to see it for a second time. It had mixed reviews, with some saying scary others not. I found the film to be an average/good thriller, and would have given 2.5 stars if I could. It was a remake of an original plot. I didn't find it scary in the same way as a horror film, but it was slighty creepy and dark, with some thrilling moments. The rationale behind the low rating is simply the plot. The story was weak, and when I start day dreaming or getting distracted, then I know the plot is poor. The ending was slightly disappointing too.

Reflecting on Mirrors!

ParkerLou from West Midlands, 14th July, 2009

Poor film. Silly plot, bordering upon ridiculous. Predictable and stupid at times. Passes the time but leaves you let down. Nonsensical and pointless.

REALLY GOOD

OnlyOneKenobi from from Nottingham, 2nd June, 2009

When i started to watch this movie, all i could think was 'Here we go with yet another Asian horror re-make' but what a nice surprise. Mirrors felt original, with amazing acting from Keifer, great special effects & a storyline that sucked you right in, mixed in with some very scary moments. My only concern was that it was a bit too long & the Blu-Ray version contained quite a bit of grain, but apart from that it was great viewing. VERY ENJOYABLE & SOME VERY SCARY MOMENTS

baffling

A Customer from chelmsford, 5th February, 2010

Lots of different horror genres incorporated to make a bit of a mess. Though there is a lovely little twist at the end. There were questions to be answered at the end than at the beginning. The sister seemed to be an afterthought, but of course Keifer Sutherland was superb and there were some real hide behind a cushion moments.

a remake of an oriental film

A Customer from london, 20th December, 2009

did not know anything about the film but on watching thought it was a scary film of far eastern nature. Proven right after looking it up - a remake of a korean film. Why bother, slow, predictable and not scary.

MIRROR HELL

gizmaam from , 15th December, 2009

I wouldn't normally put spoilers in a review but I feel the need to explain exactly why I didn't like this movie! My idea of a good horror is lots of tension created by the atmosphere created by the music and the actors. At the very beginning someone stabs himself in the neck then cuts his own throat. That was bad enough but I thought, ok, I can cope. A little later with no real explanation, someone rips their own jaw apart! HELLO! Not my idea of fun so I turned it off! Maybe I should have given it a go? If I was wrong to turn it off - who cares! I won't be renting it again. Shame as I like Keifer Sutherland. But this was unnecessary and unexplained gore. Good luck.
