Time Out

Its fair to say that expectations were low for GI Joe. Inspired by a line of stirringly patriotic 60s...

It's really not that good.

Finmeister from , 7th June, 2009

The title says it all but a more detailed explanation of the film. Terrorists attacking the world (seen it before and must better in other films). Over the top stunts that are unrealistic. People can't do what they do and live. The explosives are too big. Just way over the top. Actors/actresses are too good looking. Peolpe in the army/special forces/sas, etc are hard gritty and battle worn not perfect hair and make up. The whole film is just too unrealistic and should really be aimed at kids but it'll get a 12 rating. Same really as the little ones might have enjoyed it if it was a cartoon. Oh, hold on it is a cartoon.

After some criticism from other reviewers (?) it seems 68 people out of 70 thought I was right. Can't be wrong then can I.

G.I. Joe

Whoever wrote the review about the stunts not being realistic has obviously never played with a G.I.Joe - come on, It's a movie based on a popular toy not gritty realism! Good grief! Pyow Pyow I say! Trailer looked like good fun.

Over the top? That is the whole point.

TimCc from , 10th June, 2009

Looking at the trailer, it isn't supposed to be a fly-on-the-wall documentary.

It is a CGI film, crank up the sound system, dim the lights and bring on the guns!

Looks fine to me, as long as the soundtrack lives up to the visuals etc.

Looks horrible!

Sam4Sonia from , 2nd July, 2009

oh dear... this cgi-fest looks terrible. the acting from the trailer looks typical/horrible, the story cant be great as its based on gi-joe. it looks 90% cgi which is never good. (and the cgi parts look horrible, that bit at the end of the trailer looks too fake).Dreamworks/pixar should have handled it instead. and when you see director of the mummy on the trailer... it makes the whole film look like a joke. going to have to miss this one.!

If ya want a film to catch ur eye for 2 hours non stop, then this is for your. The acting is a bit painful at times, but the effects / stunts are great. Plus the eye candy aint too bad either!
