a powerful and moving film

chocolate-mango from Somerset, England, 2nd July, 2009

I will keep this short and sweet - a very powerful and moving film, showing how a terminal illness can effect not just the sufferer but also the different members of the family. Some fantastic acting - and an accurate portrayal of Leukaemia - a truly horrible disease which took my own brother at the age of 4. A real emotional rollercoaster - capturing some magical moments as well as some heart wrenching scenes - get the tissues ready.

My sister's keeper

Helen P from Poole, Dorset, 2nd July, 2009

Having read the book by Jodi Picoult, I was looking forward to seeing how they translated it on to the big screen. I enjoyed it immensely but was rather disappointed with the ending - it was nothing like the ending in the book. The book ending had me in tears but watching the film ending made me a little angry as I couldn't understand why they felt they had to change the ending. Does anyone who's read the book agree with me?

Have tissues handy

A Customer from London, 9th July, 2009

I must recommend this film, so very bittersweet. You will smile and cry – lots! I ran out of tissue so make sure you have plenty. Just a lovely film which as the other reviewers have said, not only talks about leukaemia from the view of the person who has it, but also its effect on the wider family. Doesn’t make any grand or showy gestures, instead it attempts to be as real as possible with human emotions, and succeeds. Also I was very doubtful about the casting of Cameron Diaz as the mother of teenage children, but completely forgot about that within the 1st 10mins.

goes on a bit

wozz0 from , 17th March, 2010

For me it was OK as a chap I thought it a bit too much,(boring). the wife loved it (cried), very strange. for me it went on 30mins too long, should have paused half way through. A bit like the Titanic really, we all know whats going to happen in the end. but the deck chairs were re arranged quite well with the legal twists in there took away some of the impending disaster. Overall I gave it 4 stars mainly because the wife loved it, she's read the book aswell.

What a tear jerker even made the old man cry. Wished it would have had the same ending as the book thought
