Developers: RENEGADE KID
Genres: Shooter
Released: April 17, 2009

Dementium: The Ward is a mature themed first-person shooter/survival horror game telling the tale of a man awakening to find himself in a mysterious, derelict hospital, apparently frozen in time. Confronted by the deadly, grotesque surgical experiments that roam the halls and a series of challenging puzzles, he must face his deepest fears in order to unlock the mysteries of the hospital and escape with his life.

Dementium is a completely new experience on the Nintendo DS, pushing the platform to its limits with full 3D visuals and bone-chilling audio. It also challenges the player to ask questions, thinking beyond the surface of the in-game surroundings. For those who survive the terrors of the Ward, a shocking conclusion awaits!

Good but.......!

A Customer from Teeside, 7th June, 2009

For the DS this is a cracking little game! The graphics are excellent obviously hardly next gen but great for the DS, with super smooth frame rates and smart cutscenes,It has some really brilliant sound effects like distant babies crying, and spooky music and oh the...banshees!! oh banshees!!! The controls are well done and like other FPS game you dont need to pick the stylus up and drag it across the pad. Plenty of weapons on offer like nightstick, pistol and shotguns etc.... BUT the thing that lets it down big style is the SAVE system....it is TERRIBLE and the reason you should only rent this and not buy it,The missions and maps are quite big so for example you play for 10 minutes and get to the end of the level and die.....you get put right back to the start and have to do it all again! Great game but that save system!!..............

Can the DS be good at First Person Shooters?

Tom from England, 22nd August, 2009

Can it indeed? I was certainly impressed with Dementium: The Ward as I found it was rich in what so many other DS games aren't: Graphics, Intruige and pleasing weaponry. The game is set in an old hospital with most of its residents infected with Zombie. Your task is to escape the vile place whilst killing and evading vast amounts of undead beasts and monsters. The controlling system is really good, it's easy to aim and shoot and there are some quite nice weapons. The graphics are actually quite stunning for the system, and they really give you the impression of a dark, dingy hospital. This game makes me wonder why there aren't more games like it for the DS.
