In the futuristic world of Olympia, a city on the brink of destruction, a team of scientists discovers a way to instantly reconfigure human DNA so that all disease will come to an end. But even miracles come at a cost, and we'll find out if this new technology is actually a blessing or a curse. The DNA reconfiguration can save lives, but could potentially end them as well. Now, as the city is overtaken by gangsters and DNA Hackers, the only promise for a better life is with the right DNA. Michelle (Bai Ling), a seductive assassin whose mission is to take out these so-called DNA hackers, is determined to use the new technology for good instead of evil. When her brother Jackie (Perry Shen) steals a genetic device from their next-door neighbor Christian (Alec Newman), a vigilante scientist, he gets dragged into the immoral cyber-underworld. Banded together with him, Michelle must fight not just for her own flesh and blood, but also for the survival of mankind.

Could easily have been so much better

AndrewDavie from , 3rd April, 2009

The visuals, the effects, the acting were all pretty good. But was all let down by a bad story seemingly ripped from pulp cyberpunk.

Oh dear, oh dear

William Brown from Edinburgh, 16th April, 2009

A sci fi film with Fay Dunaway in it? A fair indicator that it's going to be a disaster. Then it starts with people in gold clothes just to make sure we realise that it's set in the future. Should have known better and walked away right there and then. More in hope than expectation I persevered and I'm afraid that it proved me right. Absolute tosh. Stupid story, loads of idiotic set pieces and some dreadful over the top performances. Not nearly as stylish as it would like to be and as for substance? Next to none.

Very poor

A Customer from Bournemouth, 9th July, 2009

Very slow, didn't get anywhere, no action, weak story and acting no thrills. I don't say this often about films, but this was complete garbage. Absolute waste of time.

Disappointing

CorrodedSoul from from Leeds, 11th January, 2010

A Cyberpunk or “Biopunk” affair based around the idea of “DNA hacking”set in a dystopian future, , simply put DNA hackers use their skills to kill people by remotely altering or 'hacking' their genetic code. Michelle (Bai Ling) is an assassin who kills DNA hackers for Abraham (Robert David Hall) while dreaming of getting away from the overcrowded, squalor of the city . The story revolves around her struggle to survive and keeping her wayward brother Jackie ( Perry Chen ) in line. When Jackie stumbles upon a DNA hacking device it doesn't bode well especially since he's in debt with psychopathic Shylock (Loan Shark) Solemn (Michael Shamus Wiles). Alongside this the scientist responsible for DNA hacking gets tangled up in the lives of Jackie and Michelle. I'm a big fan of the cyberpunk genre but the problem here is the story just isn't that interesting and having an over-reliance on CGI is never good especially when it's poor CGI at that. Bai Ling definitely looks good and the design of the character from costumes to face paint is one of the best things about the film it's just a shame the world she inhabits is so lacking in depth. The film does boast some good music if you're into EBM and the like, with Combichrist and Encephalon contributing to the soundtrack.

Bah - it's ok really

petesafool from , 4th November, 2009

No, it's not a masterpiece of cyberpunk or sc-fi. But it was watchable. Maybe i was still in shock from having watched the GENUINELY HORRENDOUS Bloodrayne 2 straight before this. I could see a story here, characters had some degree of depth and development and action sequences with well... some action in them. This film wont satisfy you if you're looking for an 'A' list movie experience, but it shouldnt leave you feeling robbed of 2hrs of your life either. Something which those responsible for BloodRayne 2 might take into consideration if they are ever allowed out in public again.

I just could not be botherd

If this were in a cinima I would have walked out and demanded my money back. An intresting premis poorly executed by imbicials. Good cgi towards the begining but they must have run out of money as it ends up being very genericly shot in back allys. So slow moving even the tit shots didn't wake me up. The best this film can aim at is disapointing. what a load of nonsence.
