Directed by Ruben Fleischer, in his feature-length film debut, Zombieland is a Shaun Of The Dead-inspired comedy road movie starring Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg as two survivors of a zombie apocalypse thrown together in an unlikely but highly amusing partnership. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg - The Squid And The Whale), with his zombie survival guide in-hand, has only survived this long because he's so afraid of everyone and everything. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson - 2012) means to take down as many zombies as he can on his obsessional quest for Twinkies. When a chance encounter leads the two to form a partnership, little do they realise it will take them on the post-apocalyptic adventure to end them all. With mischievous female double-act Wichita and Little Rock on the scene and millions of walking dead shuffling the great expanse of the US, things are never dull in Zombieland!

An entirely forgettable postmodern zombie flick

Daniel Pollard from Manchester, England, 17th November, 2009

After the brilliant Adventureland, Jesse Eisenberg stars in Zombieland, a perfectly diverting if rather forgettable postmodern zombie flick. The zombie element of the film is played for laughs and as such, is closer to Shaun of the Dead, rather than Danny Boyle’s superior 28 Days Later. As it’s a postmodern flick, there are constant references to zombie film conventions and rules that must be obeyed, all played out whilst under the pretence of a buddy/road movie. However, the real point of Zombieland is to show a load of half dead people getting done over in a variety of ways with various weapons, which unfortunately isn’t very interesting. Despite a sprinkling of romance, a few laughs and an ongoing hunt for Twinkies (whatever they are), this film seems rather empty. Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray liven it up a bit, but overall it’s not funny or scary enough to remain memorable.

Zombieland - A road movie with guts

Monkeymanbob from , 8th October, 2009

First time director Fleischer delivers jumps, humour and a little bit of pathos with this flick. Jesse Eisenberg plays the perpetually scared Colombus with such an awkwardness and fear that you can't help feel for him and understand his need for order in the rules he lives his life by. In contrast Woody Harrelson's Tallahasse is everything that Colombus isn't, he's a pain in the rear, but by golly he's good at killing zombies (though he still to claim zombie kill of the week). Basically a road movie with zombies and a bit of romance Zombieland is more comedy than horror and will not unseat Drag Me To Hell as the best horror of recent times, but it's still one hell of a ride. The down side? The romance part, it's not needed and the scenes could have been put ot better use with either the development of the main leads relationship, or even better more zombies, and killing of said zombies. Watch and enjoy and see how many movie references you can spot in 80-odd minutes.

Amazing film.

PaulCannotThink from , 23rd October, 2009

This is the first film in a long while where i have laughed so hard in a cinema it has hurt. Me and my friend went to see it with orange Wednesday crossed with a unlimited card at Cineworld. We weren't expecting a really hard hitting movie. Just some light comedy but i was in stitches. The actor for the weedy guy Columbus is amazing. you understand how he came about these rules for survival. And how he overcomes these rules to enjoy killing Zombies. :) Definite must see of the year.

Loved it!

MrsK2 from , 16th October, 2009

What more can I say? I am an avid fan of zombie movies and for me this did everything I was expecting. Enough blood and gore and plenty of action, with some brilliant one-liners. Woody Harrelson was brilliantly cast and it was great to see Bill Murray. Some have said the running time was a little short, but I think it was just right.

Consistently Amusing

Smugster from , 19th March, 2010

Zombie-land is a little frustrating. In some ways it reminds me of Spielberg's version of War of the Worlds in that the movie I really wanted to see always seems to be happening just off camera. I'd say the movie was consistently amusing rather than laugh out loud funny which in itself is enough to put it head and shoulders above many other so-called comedies on the market. This was released on the same day as Romero's 'Survival of the Dead' and in comparison Zombie-land is a much, much better movie. A good try, just a shame it couldn't have been a little more funnier and a little more horrific.

love it!

A Customer from Auchterarder, 19th March, 2010

Fast paced, laugh out loud from start to finish. It is just as it appears in the trailers, no pretensions to be anything other than what it is. Teeny tiny grip would be that while the two male leads are allowed a little back story to flesh them out (and even bring a tear to the eye without bogging the whole thing down in sentiment) and move them on, the female characters exist only in the here and now. But whatever; one of the best zom coms.

I aint afraid of no Bill Murray

chenny from , 17th March, 2010

Unless he is drooling guts, which thankfully he isn't, but he could have been. Aside from staggering down misleading cul de sac's, I like to watch Zombies die, and I like to watch them die in an interesting manner, by interesting people, who have found themselves in an unbelievable situation... with guns, banjo's, a black bag filled with personality and not much else to do. I liked this film, it enjoyed itself from start to finish, and it took me along for the ride. Love v
