Not one but three hapless British chaps (Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes and Tom Hollander) fall for gorgeous American Monica Potter when she arrives in London hoping to start a new life. There's the odd rough patch, but the witty script uses coincidence as a springboard for plot, rather than something to avoid, and shows that a British movie can be both romantic and funny. Potter, despite appearing in some dreadful films (Patch Adams for one), proves to be an adept comedian, coming across as a younger, blonde version of Julia Roberts. At the cinema, the movie suffered from being released around the same time as the Gwyneth Paltrow hit Sliding Doors. Despite its dreadful title, this deserved better.
