Not the next Goldeneye but still a good game

A Customer from Hampton, 5th December, 2008

All games based on a movie are fighting an uphill battle. They have a deadline to meet (to coincide with the movie), cant give away too much of the plot and generally have a bit of a bad reputation in the gaming industry. Quantum of Solace is not great, but its a lot better than most. As you probably know by now, the game runs on the superb Call of Duty 4 engine which makes the multiplayer a blast to play. With several different game modes, a whole arsenal to purchase as well as gadgets (similar to the 'perks' from COD 4), there is hours of gameplay to be had. The single player, however, does not! Don't get me wrong, the campaign mode is very good but is criminally short and pretty easy even on the harder difficulties. It clocked in at around 5 hours for me, on the '007' difficulty (the hardest on the game). Also, the majority of the campaign is Bond re-telling the story from Casino Royale and not so much of Quantum of Solace. I can see why the developers done this but it kind of leaves huge gaps by the time it jumps back to QoS and doesn't make all that much sense to me (I haven't seen the film yet). The graphics aren't exactly the best we've seen but not as bad as some are making out. In response to the other reviews on here, they don't exactly push the PS3 to the max but i'd be amazed if you could show me a PS1 game, or even PS2 for that matter, that is as graphically advanced as this. I have been a gamer my whole life and this game, although not perfect, is not as bad as some of the other reviews on here would have you believe. Fair enough it's no Call of Duty beater but, credit given where credits due, this is one of the best movie to game products in years. Well worth a rent in my opinion.

Awful!

A Customer from Kirkcaldy, 8th November, 2008

This game verges on a PSOne game. Absolutely awful and highly disappointing. Graphics are terrible - the only good thing is the Daniel Craig voice over (for authenticity) and the opening credits. Other than that, avoid!

Rubbish!

A Customer from Nottingham, 3rd December, 2008

Seriously? on the PS3? The graphics are no better than being on the PS one (i expect they look amazing for the XBox 360 :-) ) but why should we put up with badly ported games! They just wanted to take advantage of the tie in with the movie and produced the quickest and cheapest game they could! My recommendation is dont bother!

Good game but not goldeneye

Adam from Birmingham, 5th November, 2008

I like this game and am still playing it now, the graphics are good controls are a bit scatty, still nowhere near as good as goldeneye on the N64.

A nice surprise

qotas from , 30th October, 2009

I have played Bond games before and every one other than Golden Eye on the N64 have been shocking. Quantum of Solace though is a brilliantly fun game, especially when you try it on the harder difficulties. The control system is easy to use and works well, the style of gameplay is enjoyable too with a dynamic cover-and-shoot style, similar to that of Drake's fortune. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this game, even the multiplayer, to the point where I played it enough to gain a platinum trophy on it. I thoroughly recommend renting it, especially if you are a fan of the new bond films.

007 left me disapointed

SupaMarrio22 from , 20th October, 2009

I still can't find a Bond game that matches the N64's Goldeneye!! Surely someone eventually will be able to deliver this?? Didn't keep hold of this long, and maybe I should have given it a bit more time. Might well buy it if I can find it dirt cheap. Worth a rent though

good fun

yxxxx from from Milton Keynes, 24th August, 2009

This game is fun. Now it might not have the best graphichs in the world but they are certainly passable and in noway effect your enjoyment at anytime. The game follows the two latest james bond films and gives you a diffrent perspective of the story. anyone that enjoys james bond and games should enjoy this also. as you would expect from tryache the action is solid and works well. rent and enjoy.
