Admittedly Smith starts the movie as the dishevelled drunk super hero that is more trouble than he is worth. But after a bit of time in prison and for once practicing what he preaches ( one inmate gets a headache and the other gets a sore ...) under the supervisory services of the husband of Charlize Theron. The chemistry and the pronounced dialogue between Charlize and Smith jumps off the screen at you and whatismore at each other. The scripting and SFX are matched up equally. Though I think Theron outsmarts Smith on acting. You would think that after smith's last two bombs you would expect this to be a nose dive, but it is not. There are 2 versions on the DVD. One is the Theatrical release and the other is the Unrated release. If there are children in the room watch the Theatrical version. If you buy the Blu-Ray version you have the choice of being able to install a DRM version on your PC or PSP. I still have a mistrust of Sony after the last issue of DRM was released, and could not get it installed on my pc anyway. However you still have this option. I don't care for sitting at my PC to watch a film I'd rather sit and enjoy it. After all that is what a lounge is for isn't it. Anyway, back to the movie and unlike Legend, which was a non starter for me, especially when the subject has been done to death in films like Resident Evil and 28 days later etc. This film offers smith the chance to interract. In the past Smith has always adopted a character which is a loner or a survivor, in this film; superhero or not he needs help. and like all oddball superheroes he gets it from the most unlikely source. The husband of Charlize Theron whom you will learn there is more to her than just a pretty face. let us just say that she is his kryptonite, and she knows it. Before you jump to the wrong conclusion again think about what Kryptonite is and what it is part of. For the same reason it explores the human condition in more ways than one, and that being human isn't always a weakness, but it depends on how that humanity is used. Well storyboarded and scripted and some good extra's, Just a pity about the Digital copy DRM. I never liked stuff that insisted that you turn of your UAC in Vista anyway. But the film earns its 4 stars for bothe acting and interacting as well as Photography. Definitely worth a rent or purchase.
