University physicists Leonard and Sheldon know whether to use an integral or a differential to solve the area under a curve. But they don't have a clue about girls. Or dating. Or clothes. Or parties. Or having fun. Or, basically, life. So when a pretty blonde named Penny moves in the apartment across the hall, the guys decide to get an education outside of the classroom. Boys, you have a lot to learn. With series creators Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men) and Bill Prady (The Gilmore Girls) concocting the right mix of logic and lunacy and stars Johnny Galecki (Roseanne) and Jim Parsons (Judging Amy) turning geekdom into Phi Beta fun, The Big Bang Theory is big on laughs. superb..........................

this dvd series is superb. The series stars Kaley Cuoco as Penny (she played Billie in Charmed), Johnny Galecki (he played the part of David in Roseanne) as Leonard, Jim Parsons ( he has been in Judging Amy and Ed) as Sheldon, Simon Helberg (he has had guest roles in Reno 911, Studio 60, Sunset Strip, Joey and MAD TV) as Wolowitz and Kunal Nayyar (he has had a guest role on NCIS, and his theatre acting credits include 'Huck and Holden' at the Dahlia Theatre in Los Angeles) as Rajesh Koothrappali. The series revolves around two physicists, who learn how little they know about life, when a beautiful woman comes into their lives. Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of 'beautiful minds' that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow CalTech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities... including love. well worth watching.

Beauty and the Geeks

ExEP from , 20th November, 2008

Sheldon is the funniest sitcom character since - sorry, can't think of one. He could be labelled as being along the autistic continuum, but to do so makes a great case for acceptance - likable despite his faults. He has little understanding of social interactions and almost no sense of humour, but when he makes a joke, it's a joy, and watching him laugh is even a bigger joke. His mother is nearly as funny as he is.

Notice the characters' clothing. They all have their own colourful style and personalities as well. All are geniuses. Penny is scrumptious.

By the way, the professional review doesn't relate to this series.

This programme is in my opinion utter crap! I HATE laughter tracks and this show has one of the most annoying ones ive heard, it would help if it was actually funny but its not. boring, annoying characters, even more annoying laughter at inapropriate times (like every 3 seconds whether something 'funny' was said or not) why has this got such a following? well each to there own i suppose, but im staying well away!

Complete tosh.

My brother loves this programme and I cannot for the life of me understand why. This series is based upon the lives of four geeks. A lovely blonde beauty (Kaley Cuoco) moves into the flat next door to (obnoxious) Sheldon and Leonard. Leonard then develops a love interest in this new beauty and goes out of his way to interact with her. The basic premise of this series is perfectly acceptable (four geeks and a beauty. One geek falls in love with beauty). But that is where any positive aspect ends and infuriating irritation commences. I absolutely hate Sheldon. He is an exttremely arrogant, petulant deviant. I hate his effeminate mannerisms and his noxious delusuions of grandeur. How the hell is he still breathing?. In real life, he would have been murdered a long time ago (and rightfully so). Then there is the typical idiotic american biased/racist portrayal of the Indian geek Koothrapalli (which is not even a real word let alone a real name!). He has been given a very minor presence, compared to his white american colleagues. He has very little dialogue and even less, when in the presence of a woman!. In fact, the only time he is able to speak to a woman is when he is drunk! (otherwise he is completely silent). There is the scene in one episode where his parents wanted to intorduce him to an Indian woman. Wolowitz (the filthy low life) did a typically offensive Indian accent. No doubt, the mind numbingly stupid, uncivilized, uneducated americans find this incredibly amusing. However, I find it extremely offensive. It pigeon holes asians in the stereotypical manner. This Indian character is given a two bit presence. He is there just for window dressing. The white characters have far more presence, dialogue and character development in comparison. Typical stupid, racist american behaviour. Wolowitz is a filthy, perverted low life parasite. Leonard is quite endearing and Penny (aka Kaley Cuoco), is absolutely gorgeous. She tries her best to interact with a group of socially inept geeks. I have seen dvd1 & 2 so far and in all the episodes, I only found one scene amusing. The series is incredibly not so funny. Avoid.
