Time Out

If genuine originality is a rare commodity in movies these days, in Hollywood comedy its damn near extinct: however...

I went to the cinema to see this and what a bad film it is. Meant to be a comedy but can't remember laughing once or anyone in the cinema either. Give it a miss.

Appalling and unfunny

A Customer from York, 15th October, 2009

So, Seth Rogan, right? This’ll be a comedy, right? Hey, Knocked Up was pretty good, despite the thinly-veiled conservative agenda, and Superbad flirted with misogyny but hey, boys will be boys, right? Pineapple Express sucked, but everybody’s allowed one dud. Ok, ok, Zach and Miri Make a Porno sucked, too, but call it a two-off! Well, if you think sexual abuse, harassment, stalking, sadistic violence and rape are funny, then this is definitely the movie for you. It ticks all the boxes! If, on the other hand, you find it difficult to accept a disgusting criminal psychopath as your protagonist, you might wanna’ try something else. What. An. Offensive. Unfunny. Piece. Of. Sh*t.

Uncomfortably funny

GrooverFW from , 15th March, 2010

If you like black humour there are at least ten laugh at loud moments in this film, many chuckles and even a few poignant moments. Its quite happy to be deeply offensive, but if you are open-minded enough to enjoy this wayward pop at US mall culture you'll get a lot out of it... and the final chase scene is pure genius.

I observed, and here's my report

Got about 20 minutes in and I was about ready to slit my wrists. Predictable story and zero comedy. EPIC FAIL!!!

What the hell was this...

MsLilly from , 11th March, 2010

..it wasn't as funny as everybody would think because of it starring Seth Rogan, it was very dark, didn't really laugh much, except at the scene with him and his mum on the bed, the rest was just dark. If you want a comedy watch knocked up or Superbad, if you want to feel depressed then watch this.

Depressing and mystifyingly bad

Caspersozza from , 3rd March, 2010

I love all the main actors in this film, and love dumb US comedies, so I was shocked to find myself hating this quite so much, but hate it I did. Criminally, for a comedy, it's almost entirely laugh-free, but more than that it's a small-minded, nasty and depressing film. Watching in baffled silence, I couldn't help wondering why anyone involved, onscreen or off, had felt the need to make this film. Whether you're a Seth Rogan fan, a comedy aficionado or just a sentient human being, you'll want to avoid this tawdry waste of talent. I wish now that I'd read the reviews on here before ordering it.
