Brilliant!

DCM from , 5th August, 2009

This film had us laughing from beginning to end, not a boring moment to be seen, and as always a happy ending. I wasn't sure if my hubby would enjoy it as it looked like a bit of a Rom-Com, but it’s definitely one for the guys as well. GO SEE IT!

A Romantic Comedy About Sex....

Katrina from , 15th August, 2009

This isn't your usual romantic comedy, this is more a comedy about sex than romance. Its basically a film about Abby a TV producer (Katherine Heigl) and a bawdy opinionated presenter with a bit of a swagger (Gerard Butler), who believes women expect too much when looking for a man. He ends up presenting 'The Ugly Truth' on the channel that Abby will be producing. Abby is furious that her boss has taken him on, as she completely disagrees with what he has to say about women and men, and so the story goes... Sure, this film doesn't have much of a story, but I've gotta say its the best comedy I've seen that lives up to that description 'COMEDY'! that I've seen in while. It was so hysterically funny, I had tears streaming down my face! And it wasn't just me, the whole audience (men and women) were in fits of laughter too. If that isn't enough to get people to see it then I don't know what is. Nice to see Gerard Butler is getting the opportunity to play a variety of roles rather than being stuck in one genre of film. It proves he is a versatile actor (from playing the Phantom Of The Opera to King Leonidas in 300 to his next film Gamer - where he plays a human computer game avatar set in the future). I've not seen Katherine Heigl in a film for years, since 'My Father The Hero' infact, where she played opposite a different Gerard (Depardieu). Of course she's been in Film/TV since then, but nothing I've seen. It seems she's particularly good at comedy roles, a bit like Sandra Bullock.

I agree.. The Truth is Ugly!!!

Beego from , 15th August, 2009

The first 10-15 mins of this film is very slow. You sit there thinking, 'oh no, what have i let myself into'?!?! However it turned out i couldn't stop laughing the whole way through the movie with tears streaming down my face. It had some very funny moments in it, ie, vibrating knickers, sexual innuendo. The story line was extremely original in my opinion and i haven't seen anything like it before! Katherine Heigl and Gerald Butller were brilliant!

The Very Ugly Truth

MissM from , 17th March, 2010

You would think this is going to be your usual soppy lovey dovey rom-com. But it is actually really funny and extremly true. Men do act like this, they treat anyone who doesn't look absolutly stunning (in their eyes) like they don't deserve to be in love! But as in life the woman changes the man's opinion towards her!! If only more men could be like Gerrad Butler.

Good Rom Com for Him and Her

DeniseF from , 17th March, 2010

Quite enjoyed this one! Some good LOL one liners. Watched it with a couple of male friends and they commented that it 'wasn't bad for a chick flick' - praise indeed! Girls - if it's your film choice this time and you fancy a rom com, this should keep the other half awake and hopefully happy throughout!
